#WHATSON: International Women’s Day in Brisbane

Oh, do we love a little girl power! And this year we’ve seen a lot of it. Now more than ever, global activism for women’s equality is bringing movements like #metoo and #timesup into the spotlight. At Brisbane Threads, we’ve told the stories of so many AMAZING and INSPIRING women. From entrepreneurs to authors, start-up’s and designers – you name it! So, of course, we will continue to do that this year with the official 2018 International Women’s Day theme #pushforprogress in mind. That means, using our platform to showcase events and products that shout to the power of women’s achievements and success on March 8th and every day. So with all of that said, here is a very special #WHATSON roundup of some events this week in Brisbane WE LOVE.

MARCH 8 | SPEED MENTORING EVENT | WOMEN IN DIGITAL

This Thursday, Women In Digital will offer a rare opportunity to rub shoulders with the most talented digital minds and ask them your burning questions re. robotics, cryptocurrencies and beyond! If you’re a budding superstar pursuing creative industries (like design, UX/UI), software development, digital marketing or entrepreneurship, here’s your chance to workshop ideas and make some EPIC contacts in the industry.

On Saturday, the gals at Dissh are hosting VIP breakfasts at their boutique stores across Brisbane and the Gold Coast in collaboration with a bunch of #GIRLBOSS influencers. At Indooroopilly, you’ll hear from Annabel Falco, a stylist, mamma and blogger with 10 years of experience in the fashion industry. Much the same, the Chermside event will showcase Jacqui Toumbas, owner of BT’s much loved Miss Bliss and Real Women Co, a community about empowering women through events and workshops. Enjoy a light champagne/mimosa breakfast and a special VIP discount on the day whilst you learn about their road to success.

On Sunday, One Woman Project will host an empowering morning at a favourite, Darling and Co. Treat yourself to breakfast bites, whilst a panel of prominent and inspiring women tell how they #pushforprogess in their local communities in Australia and internationally.

MARCH 11 | ACTUALLY, I CAN! STORYTELLING EVENT | CEDAR AND PINE

Designed by Cedar and Pine to connect and motivate, the evening will feature three hours of true tales from some of Australia’s most inspiring females. From firefighters to entrepreneurs, policewomen and athletes come stories of courage, strength and determination.
