With Valentine’s Day less than eight sleeps away now is the perfect time to drop some oh-so-subtle hints to your oh-so-special someone. And don’t stress if you are single… grab a friend and head out anyway! Whether you’re into V-Day or not it is still a perfect excuse to go out mid-week and celebrate. Any excuse to eat great food or see a movie… #amiright? Casual dinner, romantic table for two, picnic in the park, theatre show or a night at the movies; Brisbane is serving all the goods! Here are some of our Valentine’s Day in Brisbane favourites. Oh and remember you can celebrate V-Day all week long if you want to squeeze in some more special moments.
SKIP WORK EARLY
Valentine’s Day falls on a Tuesday this year, so why not skip out of work early and head over to Eagle Street Pier. Your choice of casual cocktails, pizza, sushi at Saké, steak or a gigantic Bavarian bier? We’re crushing on the Nutella pizza from Fratelli Famous for only $5 on V-Day.
Why not make the most of your night out and stay over in the city? Who doesn’t love a little stay-cation! Grab you lover, your bestie or even your mum and have a slumber party. The Marriott are offering a Date Night Package with a complimentary upgrade to a river view room! Included in the package is overnight valet parking, sparkling wine on arrival, a box of chocolates, a 12pm late check-out and a buffet breakfast; it’s the perfect way to get a mini-holiday in without having to leave the city. There is also a bouquet of ‘The Little Posy Co’ flowers in the room upon arrival.
MOVIES + DINNER
What better combination is there than movies + dinner? Catch the City Cat over to the Dendy Portside (hello romantic boat cruise along our beautiful Brisbane River) and pick from this months box office hits; Lion, Jackie, La La Land and soon to be released 50 Shades Darker. Grab a bite to eat before (or after) at the many restaurants at Portside. Italian, Japanese, Mediterranean; the choices are endless and delicious.
ROSES ARE RED
Who doesn’t love a glamorous box of roses? Nothing says Valentine’s Day more than a dozen long stemmed roses from our friends at Roses Only. Order them for yourself, your friend, or just casually leave ROSES written across you bathroom mirror with a post-it note saying ‘ORDER THESE FOR ME YES PLEASE! And maybe even include the website www.rosesonly.com for boys who don’t get your very subtle hints.
If dinner, dancing and roses aren’t your thing then why not spoil yourself and design your very own handbag from Mon Purse. Or better yet design one for your boy and or leave some subtle hints around to give him the idea. We’re a little bit obsessed with the classic pouch with monogrammed initials. Oh so cute!
This antipasto from Prova Pizzera is the perfect Valentine’s Day share food. With an assortment of meats, cheese, vegetables, olives and truffle honey this is the holy grail of antipasto platters! The Prova Pizzera boys know how to put on a great spread. Make sure you wear a flowing dress so you can fit in sneaky pizza or their lemon tiramisu.
DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY
Fancy something a bit different? Swing dancing to a live orchestra perhaps? Well you are in the luck! On Saturday 11th February at The Tivoli the Queensland Pop Orchestra featuring Adam Lopez are performing from 7:30pm, so you can swing and get your groove on all night long. From 6:00pm there will be food, beer and FREE swing dance lessons so you can dust off your shoes, get down and boogie.
