Officeworks Time To Write | Brisbane Threads

Beginning on August 29th, Officeworks is calling on all Australians to put pen to paper and join the “Time-To-Write” initiative. Recent research studies show that handwriting requires your complete physical and intellectual attention, encouraging a deeper, more lateral way of thought. Choosing to write by hand forces you to slow down and consider each individual word you write and as a result, allows you to create content you are more closely connected to. To uncover the role handwriting plays in today’s society as well as the perceived personal benefits, Officeworks have commissioned research with the Deakin University psychology department.

Here at Brisbane Threads, we’ll be taking part in the four-week challenge over on our Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Each week will have a different topic for us to put our handwriting skills to the test! We would love you to join us on this challenge by sharing your handwritten thoughts on your own social channels by tagging @officeworks and #officeworks.

Week 1 (29 August – 4 September): Opinions

Pen one important thing or thought you would like to share with Australia.

Week 2 (5 September – 11 September): Creative Expression

Get your creative juices flowing and draw, write lyrics or pen a poem to a loved one.

Week 3 (12 September – 18 September): Positive Difference

Pen something that you are thankful for or an idea that would benefit the community.

Week 4 (19 September – 25 September): Daily Thoughts

Celebrate the small things in life and make note of your daily thoughts and adventures.

Well-known Australians; Kate Langbroek, Taylor Henderson, Daniel Flynn and Bianca Cheah have offered their support and will be sharing their personal handwritten pieces across the month. Those participating are encouraged to share their handwritten pieces on social media using #timetowrite.

Officeworks will also be hosting events at business centres, co-working spaces, cafes, wellness centres and schools across the country. At each, people will be able to reconnect with the art of handwriting, with writing products supplied, as well as information about the personal benefits of handwriting.

Finally, on Saturday, September 10 – from 10am to 1pm, Time to Write will come to life at Officeworks Milton! 97.3FM radio street team will be hosting the event which is set to include writing activities, product giveaways, and a free sausage sizzle.

Officeworks has everything you need to help start your journey of putting pen to paper. We can’t wait for you to join us in participating in Time to Write. Be sure to tag @officeworks and #timetowrite on your weekly posts so we can see your handwritten thoughts!
