The Village Markets at Burleigh Heads on the (usually) sunny Gold Coast are by far the only way you should spend every first and third Sunday morning of the month. You should get straight up, fight off the cobwebs and fog from the night before and make the trek down to Burleigh Heads State School for a rummage through the most magnificent collection of brand new young designer, second hand and vintage clothes, locally designed swimwear, unique handmade jewellery, art, photographs and furniture.
There’s coffee, bacon and sausages sizzling (the morning food of champions) and a really cool collection of stylish young things, sporting unique street fashions to satisfy your people watching cravings (because everyone enjoys people watching, right?). There are plenty of bargains to be had and all stalls offer the highest quality products. The one thing I really love about these markets though, is the atmosphere. Everyone is super friendly and helpful, there’s a really good vibe (which is helped along by the live music that’s on show every week) and it’s just a really great way to spend a lazy Sunday morning (just make sure you bring lots of cash though, cos you won’t be able to resist!). Check out their website here for more info.
Next market on 19th February 2012 – Don’t miss it!
