NYE Style with the Repeat Offender

posted by Teagan West December 27, 2014 2 Comments

New Year’s Eve is just around the corner and we all know that New Year’s Eve must start with the perfect outfit!

So whether you’re gearing up for a girls’ night out, a laidback house party or something in between, it’s important to consider the location and the dress code to start the new year with a bang.

Personal Stylist and Founder of Repeat Offender, Elisha Casagrande takes us through her top tips on how to style the perfect outfit to put an end to the dreaded what-to-wear dilemma on the biggest party night of the year!

Pool Party

Once you’ve jumped out of the pool, switch to a lace bra to keep your outfit looking feminine.  Wear a classic button up shirt as a cover up or pair it with some shorts to slip in and out of as your jumping in and out of the pool!

White Party
Texture keeps an all-white outfit exciting and a hint of skin through the crochet is sexy but flattering! Look for unique design details like a textured hemline to elevate a white on white look.

House Party
Comfort is key for a New Year’s Eve house party. Take a casual yet edgy approach to ensure you’re in for the long haul. Wedge sneakers are the ultimate comfort for a night on your feet but also give you that extra height to create a more flattering shape for the legs and bottom.

Change up the look once the dancing starts by taking off the jeans for a cute mini!

Nightclub/ Bar Party
When wearing neutrals, add an accent shade like a metallic gold to create a more polished look.  A statement necklace with a sweet-heart neckline draw attention toward the upper body & face, away from common problem areas below the waist.

When wearing a shorter style, look for vertical design details such as zips or panels on the bustier to lengthen the body and create a slimming effect.

Dinner Party
A denim jacket adds a casual but chic element to a formal occasion. Add some rose gold, an understated shade that works perfectly with every skin-tone.

When choosing accessories, match them to a colour in the print to keep your look polished.

Add Some Sparkle with Closet Chronicles

posted by Teagan West November 9, 2014 0 comments

For years, women in the workforce have been led to believe that corporate attire should be predictable and lackluster, the simple pencil skirt and blouse combo with little colour and sparkle.

But alas, there’s someone here to shake it up!

Closet Chronicles is a new online contemporary jewellery boutique striving to answer the pertinent question – how do you master business chic? Focused on adding a flamboyant twist to the corporate woman’s wardrobe, Roxanne Harding and sidekick Ashley Hanger are making a rumble in the local jewellery scene.

Eliminating the generic aspect of fashion jewellery giants, Closet Chronicles prides itself on exclusivity and limited production of each piece, meaning you’re bound to find something unique that you won’t see everyone else wearing.

Debut collections ‘Black Magic’ and ‘Pretty in Pink’ have come and gone after being welcomed with hearty praise from fashionistas who were quick to support the local label. Don’t despair though if you missed out, because two new collections have made their way onto Closet Chronicles online store – ‘Mediterranean Mystique’ and ‘Heavy Metal’ – and if I say so myself, they’re looking very good!

Mediterranean Mystique is crafted primarily on turquoise, smoky quartz and brushed silver and perfectly pairs with wardrobe staples to give a fashion-forward, but still business-savvy look. Outside of the office, the Mediterranean collection is perfect for summer days and garden parties when paired with a cute skirt or your classic denim.

Meanwhile on the other side of the spectrum, the brand-spankingly-new Heavy Metal collection is a range of gold, silver and bronze pieces that will add a whole lot of funk to spice up your outfit. But be quick – some pieces of this heavy-duty hardware range are set to sell out soon, so better snatch them up now or be sad and sorry for yourself later (I’m desperately eyeing off the Tabitha Coin Necklaces in gold and silver).

Roxanne sources supplies and materials from all over the world to create striking pieces inspired by her wanderings abroad to encourage women to establish their personal style, especially in the workplace.

Keep your eyes on the Closet Chronicles Facebook page because the stylish devils will be bringing a new collection to the online store monthly.

Westfield Garden City is Back!

posted by Teagan West October 15, 2014 0 comments

Southsiders rejoice! Westfield Garden City at Mt Gravatt is back and it’s bigger and better than ever!

Our local shopping mall has undergone a $400 million makeover and oh boy, you can tell. The redevelopment welcomes an additional 1400 car spaces, 100 new specialty retailers, a resort-style dining precinct, a fresh food market and a host of new restaurants to sink your teeth into.

Department stores Target and Myer, opened officially by Jennifer Hawkins last weekend, have also joined the collective alongside David Jones, Kmart and Big W.

The most spectacular transformation though, is the new Town Square dining precinct and its ability to immediately transport you from the concrete jungle of a suburban shopping complex. A giant pool and bridge network, tropical flora and inviting lounge chairs have transformed the run down entertainment area into a lush subtropical oasis to rival the likes of Sanctuary Cove and Marina Mirage.

And a treat for the ladies, keep an eye out for the #GCpoolboys. Trust me, you wont be able to miss them!

Town Square’s array of casual dining options will make the new dining precinct your go-to spot for weekend breakfasts, lunch in the sun, coffee and cake, a dinner date or cocktails with the girls.

Choose between the revamped Beach House Bar and Grill, old favourites Hog’s Breath Café, Grill’d and Pancake Manor or newbies Hatch & Co., Kinn Thai, The Palms Mediterranean Bar and Grill, San Churro and more.

And while we’re on the topic of food, we must discuss 8 Street – an incredible Asian laneway that resembles the busy food markets and street laneways of Southeast Asia.

More than 10 different Asian eateries have taken their place in the hawker-style area that is bursting with fragrance and flavour as takeaway meals are made to order. It’s a permanent, all-day dining laneway complete with ramen soups, Asian burgers, Japanese pizza, Malaysian noodles, Asian BBQ, shanghai dumplings, wonton soup and more. I personally can’t wait to perch myself on a barstool and get amongst it all!

8 Street is perfect for lunch on the run if you work in the centre and for shoppers, is a great place to rest your weary feet (especially those of your accompanying male: nothing says refreshed like a large selection of quality local and Asian beers).

I’ll be dining at Garden City a lot more in the coming months as I work my way around Town square and 8 Street and wait patiently for Vapiano’s to open!

Here’s my top 5:

  1. Town Square and 8 Street – they’re a Southside gourmands dream come true
  2. The brand spanking new Target store with its own coffee shop and limited edition Missoni collection. Need I say more?
  3. Workout wear inspired by the yoga movement at abi and joseph
  4. Stocking up on bright hues at the (soon to be open) M.A.C store
  5. Sweet treats at the Noosa Chocolate Factory

Stay tuned for individual restaurant reviews!

Indooroopilly Shopping Centre’s recent face-lift has injected and it’s injected a splash of lust-worthy designer fashion that will tempt you beyond repair. One of those new retailers is Ted Baker. Yes, you read that right, The Ted Baker!

The new Indooroopilly boutique will take you on a journey to the edge of the universe and back again with a store that is decked with apertures and globes, Big Bang  themed wallpaper, illuminating colours, mimicked solar systems, dramatic lighting and antique alcoves, all to create ‘Ted’s Observatory.’

And that’s not the most impressive part – it’s the threads of course!

The store houses Ted Baker’s Spring/Summer 2014 womenswear, menswear and accessory collections… but lets be honest, all you want to hear about is your next splurge in the womenswear department, right? Right!

The SS14 collection has been described as a mix of strong silhouettes, intoxicating colours, metallic highlights and different textures, contrasted with sorbet shades, clean lines, minimal detailing and pops of neon. There’s also striking prints that go by the names of ‘Rose on Canvas,’ ‘Symmetrical Orchid,’ and ‘Sugar Sweet Floral.’

Basically, Australia’s fifth Ted Baker store houses every ingredient you will ever need to turn envious heads towards your killer threads.

So get in on the SS14 Ted Baker act and check out the other new store at the newly renovated Indooroopilly Shopping Centre.
