Milk & Love

It’s no secret, I have hit ‘that age’. Well, to be clear, I haven’t, but my friends have 😉 And there are gorgeous little pregnant bellies poking out from underneath tops everywhere and even cuter little smiles peeking out from prams.

Working in fashion, my friends often come to me for style advice, but lately the requests have changed. They still want style, however function has become even more important. THE QUESTION: How do I get through pregnancy and breastfeeding comfortably, while staying stylish and still feeling my age.

It makes me so excited and proud that the answer to that question comes right out of Brisbane!

I had the absolute honour of meeting Corryn, the founder of Milk & Love, last week who’s vision for her business is to provide women everywhere with comfortable, stylish and ethically sourced clothing during their pregnancy and beyond.

What I LOVE about Milk & Love is the gorgeous bamboo fabrics. If you haven’t worn bamboo, it is the softest most comfortable and breathable fabric going. Their styles are classic, elegant and don’t look ‘maternity’ at all, so you can wear them long after your breastfeeding days.

Of course, they offer free shipping within Australia and some fantastic resources for new mothers.

Milk & Love is first off my lips when making style recommendations to my close friends and so excited to share it with Brisbane Threads readers!

Brisbane’s most notable accessory designers

posted by Danielle Lewis May 17, 2014 2 Comments

There is no doubt Brisbane’s not short of creative talent. And we always talk frocks, so today we’re talking accessories! Bags, shoes, jewellery and all locally designed, manufactured or based in Brisbane! I love how diverse this list is… there’s something for every taste, next time you’re in the market for a little bling.. think local!

I was so lucky to receive a Knots + Knits bag for my birthday last year, and I take it everywhere. Everyone always compliments me on how unique it is! Randomly, it has been a great ice-breaker for networking events!!

Beautiful woman shopping over the internet.

Planning on doing your Christmas shopping online this year? Here are our Top 10 online boutiques with FREE Shipping to Brisbane! Of course they are a little fashion-biased… in case you are just shopping for yourself!!

1. Shopbop

I cannot go past Shopbop… ever. If I ever want to make an investment purchase I always head there to compare prices and their SALE section makes high-fashion brands affordable. I particularly love their ‘Holiday Gift Edit’ which recommends presents according to price-range – perfect for fitting in to the Christmas budget.

2. The Outnet

Who doesn’t love a sale? And when there is a whole site dedicated to luxe items at sale prices… why wouldn’t you start here first?

3. ASOS AU

ASOS has the biggest range of fashion on the planet. From your cheap and cheerful fast fashion fixes to the investment items; ASOS has got you covered. Plus they have been in the game a long long time – so you know your order is safe! Oh, and did I mention they have 25% off ASOS Collection at the moment?

4. Shopruche.com

Shop Ruche makes me swoon… the vintage inspired boutique has gorgeous girly dresses that I could just look at all day! PLUS their gift sets are the best… beautiful gift ideas for every member of the family!

5. Farfetch.com

If you are ready for a Christmas SPLURGE farfetch is the place to click to next.  Curated by some of the world’s top boutiques you’ll find labels like Alexander Wang and Jimmy Choo… certainly on my “in-your-dreams-list”.

6. My-wardrobe

If you’ve already spent way too much on your shopping already this Christmas I recommend a visit to My-wardrobe! They are having a 50% off sale for Australian customers! Don’t mind if I do! I particularly love browsing their wardrobe inspiration and trends sections when I am in a fashion-lull.

7. Samantha Wills

Samantha Wills is just gorgeous… the woman herself, the brand and her gorgeous products. And her goodies are so in-demand they have a waiting list you can subscribe to for some of her signature pieces. Proud to be an Aussie designer!

8. Oasap.com

Oasap has a massive range of quirky pieces that you won’t find in your big online retailers. Claiming to deliver fashion and love and only stocking items produced in an ethical environment…. PLUS Oasap are offering 25% off all items for Christmas using the coupon code XMAS at the checkout.

9. Net-a-Porter

Whilst Net-a-Porter is usually out of my price range I love to stop by and check out their weekly magazine. It gives you up to date coverage on fashion and beauty trends plus what the old celebs are wearing. I also love their TV Channel – fabulous for some day-dreaming for when I become a millionaire.  Definitely bookmark their SALE section.

10.  Style Tread

Back down to earth Style Tread is a must-visit if you are considering a new-shoe purchase. Not only do they literally have thousands of brands and styles to choose from they are also aware that shopping for shoes online is a bit difficult… they actually ENCOURAGE you to buy two sizes and return the second pair for FREE!! PLUS they are having a 30% off sale right now… just enter the code MEGA30 at the checkout!
