The Ultimate Spring / Summer Style Guide

posted by Teagan West August 21, 2015 2 Comments

It’s only two weeks until spring, so you know what that means… It’s time for all things SS15 fashion, and my golly are we excited for the temperature to rise. Over here at Brisbane Threads we get excited at the change of season because it gives us the perfect excuse to change, edit and update our existing wardrobe with more suitable items (of course nothing in there is suitable anymore, right?!).

To celebrate, we have put together the ultimate spring / summer style guide for the season ahead, with all looks available from Indooroopilly Shopping Centre retailers. It’s full of the brands to love, styles to wear and trends to follow. Plus, there’s even word of an exclusive fashion showcase (more details below), but you’ll need to get your outfit sorted first so we’ll start there.

Indooroopilly Shopping Centre has it all, from high end fashion brands and cult favourites to Australian classics and major department stores overflowing with goodness. So it was the perfect place to round up our favourite brands to highlight the new SS15 collections. Let’s just say… we want it all!

sass & bide – The new arrivals at sass & bide are classic s&b, if you’re a regular of the brand of course. There’s a black and white theme happening for the warmer months with lots of graphics, texture and embellishments, balancing luxury and versatility with ease. Wide leg pants are so hot right now, and this bold black, white and yellow pair is perfect for the coming season.Spring/Summer Fashion at Indooroopilly Shopping Centre | Brisbane Threads

Cue – The corporate chic theme is truly evident in the new season collection, walking the line spectacularly between spring fling and office appropriate threads. Hemlines are modest, the colour scheme is tight and structure is the main feature of each piece, so it’s super easy to mix and match classics for an ever-changing interned look.

Seed Heritage – In the last 6 months I have become a big lover of Seed and all they do, so of course I was excited to see what’s instore for the coming 6 months as the temperature in Brisbane rises to 30. There’s a cool palette of blue denim, pastel green and white, mixed with beige, black and white stripe and khaki for good measure. Floaty shapes are key to the coming season, and Seed have (once again) nailed it.Spring/Summer Fashion at Indooroopilly Shopping Centre | Brisbane Threads

Princess Polly – If you’re after some fun, festival-style pieces to fill your holiday wardrobe with, Princess Polly is certainly the answer. With a collection of cult brands such as Isla by Talulah, Paint It Red, Nobody Denim, Motel, Quay Australia, Some Days Lovin and The Fifth Label on their racks, to say it’s a go-to for achieving the latest trend is an understatement. It’s perfect for your pre-holiday shopping spree, when all you need are threads that will see you exploring new cities and take you from sun drenched days on the beach to cocktails by the pool.

Zimmermann – We got a peek at this collection at the international fashion shows earlier in the year, and finally it’s our turn to bring a little splash of Zimmermann’s SS15 collection into our wardrobes. Bright hues paired with pastels are the colour palette of the season, with a mix of teal, red, blush, lavender and plum filling the collection. Lace, sheer, embodied fabric, pussy bow ties and boho vibes, this collection is the epitome of the Zimmermann aesthetic we know and love. It’s certainly an investment, but we think it’s worth every penny.

H&M – Our favourite international retailer will surely get a work out this season, with Brisbane folk flocking to Indooroopilly Shopping Centre to explore the chain stores new season collection. The price point is certainly on point, so H&M is the place to go to update your wardrobe without sacrificing your holiday fund. There’s something for everyone, so stock up on oversized tunics, patterned pieces to mix and clash, lightweight knits, ripped denim and leatherette skirts and show the world your very own curated summer collection.

Country Road  – Country Road is the home of quality basics that are perfect for mixing and matching into your wardrobe. Think button-up blouses, midi skirts, relaxed shorts, boxy tees and stylish two pieces. Black, white and navy are the key colours of the season, accentuated with pops of denim, maroon, camel and a striking green stripe. It’s perfect for both the office and the beach, a balance which is usually impossible to achieve. Spring/Summer Fashion at Indooroopilly Shopping Centre | Brisbane Threads

Scanlan Theodore – Think power suits, black and white separates, bold patterns and short lengths and you’ve imagined up the Scanlan Theodore SS collection. There’s some great pieces in there that are perfect wardrobe staples with the ability to take you from day to night by adding a few simple accessories. Our favourite piece of all is the backless ostrich feather dress – perfect for making a statement!

SABA – In true SABA style, classic shapes for the sophisticated woman is what you can expect when you browse the new arrivals. Timeless silhouettes like culottes and pencil skirts in neutral hues and classy patterns, this is the collection for the gal on a mission who wants to dress to impress.Spring/Summer Fashion at Indooroopilly Shopping Centre | Brisbane Threads

For the finishing touches, stop in at Jo Mercer, Nine West, Tony Bianco or Wittner for some spring kicks, LouenHide for a gorgeous new tote and Aesop, LUSH and Mecca for a bit of pampering.

Now, once you’ve got your outfit(s) sorted, here’s what you need to know about the exclusive showcase we mentioned up top… Special guests Nicole Pollard, Jodi Anasta and Kate Waterhouse will be joining stylist Laura Churchill at Indooroopilly Shopping Centre for an exclusive showcase of new season collections by Australian and international designers over three days of big events. Winter Wednesday’s At Station Road Dining

posted by Madi West June 12, 2015 0 comments

Forget dining in at home this winter and say hello to Indooroopilly Shopping Centre’s new “Winter Wednesday” dining offers at the Station Road dining precinct.

This month-long mid-week dining offer includes exclusive specials each Wednesday throughout June at the precinct’s leading restaurants to offer diners a delicious range of cuisine and culture at a fraction of the price.

We were lucky enough to be invited to try one of the “Winter Wednesday” offers and was delighted to stop by Ole Fuego this week to try their sunset tapas and sangria deal. The offer includes the choice of three tapas dishes from the menu’s large selection and a jug of sangria. It’s a deal for 2, so grab your lover or a mate and enjoy a tapas feast for $55.

So what did we pick? The Jug Blanco Sangria, which was a white wine, peach, liqueur and apple juice concoction was the sangria of choice. Hands down it was the best Sangira I have ever tasted – not too strong but with a subtle kick of punchy flavour. For our selection of tapas, the Croquetas, Choriza and Morcilla and Patatas Bravas (spiced potato with red pepper sauce), all of which were as deliciously tasty, packed with flavour and full of authenticity as they sound.

“Winter Wednesdays” at Station Road offers are:

  • Nantucket Kitchen & Bar – Raid Your Cellar BYO wine
  • Pig ‘N’ Whistle – Pizza and a pint for $30
  • Harajuku Gyoza – The Double dessert: six dessert gyoza for the price of three
  • Nitrogenie – A free upgrade to large with any regular ice cream purchase
  • Sunset Tapas and Sangria for 2 for $55 at Ole Fuego

Stop eating in at home this winter and enjoy cuisines from all around the world at Station Road dining.

Ted Baker Spring / Summer 2015 Showcase

I see chiffon with stripes

Crisp white too

I see bathers with blooms

For me and you

And I think not really to myself

This collection really rules

I see sets that match

And sets that clash (stylishly so)

I see sequins on jackets

Worth every bit the cash

And I think to myself

I hope no one can see me drool

The colours and the prints

Completely unique, it’s true

Everything that’s graphic

Only Ted Baker can bring to you

I see delicate detailing

Saying “let me look good on you”

They’re really saying,

“I love you”

I see structural pieces

Cinched in the right places

I see varying lengths

For any kind of paces

And I think to myself

Is this a dream come true?

Yes, I reassure myself

This is a dream com trueeeeee.

^ Is precisely the little musical montage that occurred in my mind as I entered Ted Bakers breakfast and showcase on Tuesday morning. Trying ever so hard to calmly and collectedly weave my way through the Spring Summer 2015 collection. If you’re looking for diversity in one place, you’ve found it.

Bathers, for the first time are making an appearance in the stand-alone Indooroopilly shop. There are boxy cuts, loose and comfortable cuts; there are pieces cinched in all the most flattering places, and there are more structural pieces for those daring souls. Full of prints and graphics the collection has a mix of symmetry and asymmetry. Graphics are large and there is good use of negative space on textiles to really make them pop! Accessories aren’t omitted from this fabulousness; most of the bags for the coming season include a compartment at the very front just for phones, how convenient is that? No more endless digging for the slippery blighter. Skirt shapes range from pencil, to A line, to mini, and full circle. I must press that there really is something for everyone amongst this collection, and it’s arguably Ted’s best one yet!

The menswear collection is equally as fun, with heaps of loud prints on short and long-sleeved button ups. Ted Baker always caters for those who prefer the more understated and muted tones too. Light cable knits make an appearance, which is perfect for spring. A pop of fun print out the top of a light sweater? Yes please Gents. Pants are cropped, which is the perfect opportunity to show off those statement socks. The patterns and colour trickled down into accessories and shoes too. If there’s one thing Ted Baker is trying to tell you for this coming season it’s COLOUR, clash it, play with it, and don’t be afraid of it!

Ps. all of the prints in this collection are entirely unique to Ted Baker, so you’ll never have to worry about someone having the same patterned outfit as you (unless they too are Ted lovers, which is celebration not a casualty)

Oh, and a little shout out to Caxton Street catering who put on the degustation, but breakfast style. Stupendously kawaii, think all things breakfast, but then downsize that to a doll size tea party. I ate a tiny ham cheese sandwich shaped as a butterfly and French toast the size of a tim tam, I can rest assure that won’t happen again anytime soon.

Anyway, don’t just take my word for it peoples, get in store, check it out, and let us know what you think!

Fun fact: Every Ted Baker store has a theme privy to its location. The Brisbane theme is astronomy to relate to Sir Thomas Brisbane’s love of such.

H&M is coming to Brisbane!

posted by Teagan West February 9, 2015 0 comments

H&M is coming. I repeat, H&M is coming.

Brisbane’s fashion game is set to taken another leap forward when H&M comes to town next month. It was announced this week that the international fashion retailer will open its doors in Indooroopilly Shopping Centre on March 5 with what is sure to be a super-launch day and opening weekend.

Late last year it was announced that the retailer would open up in Brisbane’s western suburb of Indooroopilly rather than in the CBD alongside Topshop and Forever 21 to bring it’s affordable fashion to the masses from the ‘burbs.

H&M will take up residence on Level 2, between David Jones and Target when it joins the Centre’s collective of international stores including Armani Collezioni, Ted Baker, Hugo Boss and Max & Co. Also opening in 2015 is CK underwear, further boosting the Centre’s portfolio in the wake of its $450 million redevelopment.

Despite releasing a statement that says they are thrilled to welcome H&M to fashion-forward shopping mall, Indooroopilly Shopping Centre are being secret squirrel on all other details.

Leah Mienert, Centre Manager of Indooroopilly Shopping Centre said “H&M is a highly successful international brand that Queensland has been wanting for a very long time. We are delighted that H&M chose Indooroopilly Shopping Centre to open its first Queensland store and that we will be able to offer our customers yet another exceptional fashion shopping option.”

But here’s what we do know…

– 1 level, 2500 square metres

– Range will include apparel, underwear and accessories for men, women and children

– Key collections include the Modern Essentials range, selected by David Beckham, of mens go-to pieces for Autumn 2015

If the new Melbourne store is anything to go by, we’re in for a huge treat! But we’ll just have to wait and see exactly what unfolds when the spectacle begins on March 5 when the retailer opens its third Australian store following openings in Melbourne’s GPO and Macquarie Centre, North Ryde in New South Wales.

Fingers crossed for brilliant fast-fashion, trend-worthy pieces, competitive price points and stock holdings to rival the retailer’s international stores. We want what Paris and New York have!

The new Indooroopilly boutique will take you on a journey to the edge of the universe and back again with a store that is decked with apertures and globes, Big Bang  themed wallpaper, illuminating colours, mimicked solar systems, dramatic lighting and antique alcoves, all to create ‘Ted’s Observatory.’

The store houses Ted Baker’s Spring/Summer 2014 womenswear, menswear and accessory collections… but lets be honest, all you want to hear about is your next splurge in the womenswear department, right? Right!

The SS14 collection has been described as a mix of strong silhouettes, intoxicating colours, metallic highlights and different textures, contrasted with sorbet shades, clean lines, minimal detailing and pops of neon. There’s also striking prints that go by the names of ‘Rose on Canvas,’ ‘Symmetrical Orchid,’ and ‘Sugar Sweet Floral.’

Basically, Australia’s fifth Ted Baker store houses every ingredient you will ever need to turn envious heads towards your killer threads.
