A breezy twilight cinema has graced veteran chill-spot New Farm Park with epic cult classic flicks and some new blockbusters. Take a wander down to the open-air Moonlight Cinema, spread out your best picnic blankets and snacks with your nearest and dearest (pups welcome) for a relaxed night out under the stars. There is a fully licenced bar, a food truck on site and bean bags for rent. The event is running in Brisbane until March 4th! Here’s a little taste of what’s showing this month…
I recently had the pleasure of attending my first RAW: natural born artists event here in Brisbane and was delighted to be checking out the collective of emerging artists showcasing their talent at such a great initiative.
RAW is an independent arts organisation that spotlights local creatives in visual art, film, fashion, music, hair and makeup artistry, photography and performing art at monthly events in over 60 artistic communities across Australia, the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.
There was an art gallery full of visual artists works, photography and other creative endeavours, and show packed full of local music, short film screenings and fashion parades.
It’s perfect for the wacky and wild creatives among us, and also those with innovative ideas in the arts community.
Featured artists at April’s showcase included fashion from reciciaGEM, Harpi, Summa Shing, Seven Eves, Alice Nightingale, The Wanderers Co, Oxe Clothing and Maggie Steel, hair and makeup by Elise Heather, Xsentuate Makeup Artistry and Charmaine Warpaint among others.
The art gallery had a whole bunch of artists and photographers work showcased in one spot, with wall to wall offerings of weird, wonderful and beautiful work. Showcased artists included Jessica Gehle, Roland Anthony, Sconnie and Jam, Merinela, Evy, Jemma Lobwein Art & Design, Kat Johnston, Brooke Dobbie, Wild Rice, OmiLee, Sam Galer, Eliah Lillis, TecaupRose and Moie Preisenberger.
If you missed the event you can check the artists out online through their links, and be sure to like RAW on Facebook to make sure you don’t ever miss the exciting creative initiative next time it rolls into town.
