A Helping Hand With Cart-A-Lot

posted by Maddie Vlismas August 10, 2017 0 comments

Here at Brisbane Threads we love functionality and we’ve stumbled across the most genius of inventions; Cart-A-Lot!

Cart-A-Lot is Australia’s first foldable cart and is a start up company run by an Australian family from South Australia. Rebecca & Anthony Keain had the idea on an overseas holiday in 2o14 when they saw a woman with her three children at a restaurant pull out what looked like folded stroller from under their table. The Keain’s watched the woman “unfold it in one easy action, load it up and leave the restaurant with her children and her belongings all simply in tow.”

They looked to buy their own and when they couldn’t find one in Australia- they built it themselves.

The cart can hold up to 70kg, meaning it can be used to cart children, dogs, beach gear, shopping, sports equipment; you name it! Some of their added accessories can convert the cart into an esky, shopping trolly and much more. It’s quick and easy folding action is one the cart’s best features, meaning you won’t spend half of your trip having to assemble it.

It has solid, rubber wheels and a powder coated steel frame with a durable polyester fabric meaning the Cart-A-Lot is ready for anything. The Cart-A-Lot also comes in an off road model too! It folds down to a super compact size (79cm H x 51cm W x 19cm D) and can fit in most car boots, or even be hung on a wall at home.

For families, Cart-A-Lot is a saviour and can save you so much time and hassle when on the go. No more juggling kids and toys and whatever else there may be- just pop it all in the cart. Even if you don’t have a young family, Cart-A-Lot is just as handy for beach trips, barbecues, strolling through a market or carrying sports gear around.

Accessories and add-ons compliment cart use and include a cover, a waterproof liner and even an umbrella!

Stay Warm in Style

ATTN: Brisbaners! It. Is. Cold.

Every year we are unprepared and downright shocked when the sun leaves our little slice of paradise and goes on holiday to the Northern Hemisphere, leaving us to freeze our little butts off. This year will be different! Say goodbye to your trakky-daks and hoodie (not forever, just leave them at home) because we’re here to help you stay toasty warm and fashionable too! Take that Melbourners…

Grown up fun at Dendy Portside

You know those mornings when you wake up, vague memories of the night before, way too many drinks and the late night pizza (or maccas dash) on the way home? That ‘rough night’ we all try to forget, where we were just letting our hair down and having fun out with fiends? Yeah that night. Well… Rough Night is the new #LMAO R-rated comedy about just that… a group of girls having a weekend renion-turned rough night… which may or may not include killing a stripper (by accident of course). A confession of a yogi wannabe…

posted by Emmy O'Neill May 26, 2017 0 comments

Recently I had the privilege of trying the Inna Bliss Six-Week Beginner Yoga Course. Full disclosure; to say I am a beginner at yoga would be a bit of lie. But then it would also be telling the truth, because in some ways I feel like yoga is one of those things that no matter how much you do there is always more to learn.

My very first experience of yoga was watching a video cassette (not a DVD, so that might reveal my age #AnyoneElseAn80sChild) back in the early 2000’s… I then tried class after class; hopping between studios and yoga styles for the next ten years.

Umami

‘Umami (/uˈmɑːmi/), or savoury taste, is one of the five basic tastes (together with sweetness, sourness, bitterness, and saltiness).’ Thanks to George, Matt and Gary (aka those Masterchef boys) Umami is part of our food vocabulary, but I still found myself unable to describe Umami; instead just going with ‘it is Umami.’

Umami is not only the mysterious fifth taste; it is also the name of one of Brisbane’s tastiest restaurants located at the top of the China Town Mall, Fortitude Valley. Umami Bar & Asian Tapas isn’t the new kid on the China Town block but it has had a menu and venue makeover and it is fabulous.

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of a little #staycation with hubby at the Brisbane Marriott to escape the chaos of everyday #mumlife. Truth be told we were incredibly excited (aka couldn’t freaking wait) to drop off the tribe and head into the city for a little #datenight sans babes.

Trainspotting at Dendy

posted by Emmy O'Neill February 14, 2017 0 comments

Who doesn’t love a glass of bubbles and the red carpet whilst at the movies? We love us a movie preveiw screening especially when it is 20 years in the making!

This Friday 17th February Dendy Portside are hosting a red carpet screening of the sequel to Trainspotting; the 1996 movie which had a cult following, killer soundtrack (remember Underworld’s ‘Born Slippy’) and made us fall in love with that sexy Scottish accent. Funny, serious, confronting, heart-breaking & beautiful. T2 Trainspotting promises all that and more. It is set exactly twenty years later in 2016 with the same cast including Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner and John Lee Miller. This Scottish black comedy directed by Danny Boyle is rebellious, fast-paced and promises to have and even sexier soundtrack.  Continue Reading
