Goodbye Hangover. Hello Recoverthol.

posted by Karlicca Culalic March 20, 2018 0 comments

If you spend your Saturday night painting the town red then you are sure to encounter the inevitable – especially if you plan to consume a bit too much of that red. And by the inevitable we mean, one epic hangover. Whether your remedy is good food, bad food, bed rest or just becoming one with the mantra “I AM NEVER DRINKING EVER AGAIN,” dealing with effects of a hangover is usually only once the damage is done. So naturally, when we discover a product to prevent all of that, we go away, we do some essential research (a few red wines) and then we deliver the insider tip of the day: it works!

HOT OFF THE PRESS:  A food truck gold mine has permanently descended on our darling Brisbane Showgrounds. From Wednesday through to Sunday, Brisbane foodies will find a mountain of street eats at the Dairy Hall and Sugar Building in our very own Bowen Hills. Repurposed to preserve the character and heritage of the building, the Welcome to Bowen Hills venue is licenced to hold a truck-full of hungry people (up to 1000) and will feature three to five continually rotating vendors to choose from daily. Just recently, it was announced that food truck royalty King of Wings has signed on for six weeks. How fab! Think names like Mr Burger, Cheeselane, Flavours of Eataly, Bruce the Foodtruck, I Heart Calamari, Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers + more.

posted by Karlicca Culalic February 19, 2018 0 comments

The words party and rosé used in a sentence only mean good things so together they’re a match made in HEAVEN. This weekend, a one-time-only rosé party (aka, pop-up heaven) will strike an old James Street classic Gerard’s Bistro to celebrate Dan Single’s newest French Rosé, Pour Les Amour. After globe-trotting and grape-trotting his way to the finest drop, the pink potion has been brought all the way from Southern France to Brisbane. Time to bring out the glasses and #pourtheLOVE!

100 GO-TO eats in Brisbane based on your #FOODMOOD

posted by Karlicca Culalic January 31, 2018 0 comments

Food mood, it’s real. You know when you say, “I’ll eat anything” but low-key, c’mon you won’t be eating just anything. Somewhere deep in your subconscious resides a small innately stubborn part of you, triggered at any mention of food and where it will be consumed. To paint the picture, I am 70% likely to be in the car when this happens. Dropping dead fuel, making suggestions with my shotgun rider, none of which are satisfactory to my secretly set criteria, and where do I end up? Paying $10 for a plate of carbs I’ve eaten three times this week. So to do us all a solid we’ve curated some of Brisbane’s best food faves to satisfy some of the most common #FOODMOODS. Best use? When you’re driving around on the verge of a first-world mental break-down. Pull over. We got you.

The Fox Hotel’s Trocadero Long Bar

posted by Karlicca Culalic December 1, 2017 0 comments

These days it seems The Fox Hotel is no stranger in the vocab of the token millennial. It is the home of popular neon haunt Dandy’s Bar after all. Perhaps though it’s best-kept secret is right, under, your, nose. Trocadero Long Bar is the darling downstairs space on Melbourne Street, just a skip and hop from Fish Lane and situated perfectly to make this your newest after TAFE and uni hang. With word of a new dessert menu, three girlfriends and I piled into the Fox on a stormy Saturday with our sights set firmly on hearty wet-weather comfort food. Along with a warm sense of hospitality from everyone we encountered, that is exactly what we found.

In celebration of Montrachet‘s move to the vibrant bustle that is King Street, there will be a mini champagne themed festival held in the laneway occupying Machinery Street. How gorgeous! The Parisian themed affair will include three pop-up bars and offer a selection of twelve premium champagnes for the event’s starry-eyed guests. Think, an assortment of vintage and rosé champagnes accompanied by all your favourite French pastries. I can already smell the almond croissants and chocolate eclairs! Tickets are $49pp and in true tradition, they will include a drop of Montrachet’s very finest NV Louis Roederer Brut Premier on arrival…

Bisous! Book tickets here.

Lonely Planet names Newstead one of the coolest neighbourhoods in Australia

posted by Karlicca Culalic November 22, 2017 0 comments

It’s official. Lonely Planet, yes, THAT Lonely Planet (to reiterate the very same one that awards accolades to the likes of dreamy Paris and London) has named *our* Newstead one of the three coolest neighbourhoods in Australia. I’m sorry but we can’t help feeling like a proud mum. Territorial even, like a die-hard, day one fan of an underground indie rock band everyone’s just discovered playing on Nova. Alas, it’s no surprise this neck of the woods has made it in the big league. Newstead is a treasure trove of exclusive restaurants, bars and cafe’s alike. So without further ado, here are ten reasons we love this leafy riverside ‘it’ suburb. When I say reasons, I mean more like – fantastic places to consider putting on your mental list of places to eat next. As always though, you’re welcome.
