Food Truck Heaven! Welcome to Bowen Hills now open

posted by Karlicca Culalic February 26, 2018 0 comments

HOT OFF THE PRESS:  A food truck gold mine has permanently descended on our darling Brisbane Showgrounds. From Wednesday through to Sunday, Brisbane foodies will find a mountain of street eats at the Dairy Hall and Sugar Building in our very own Bowen Hills. Repurposed to preserve the character and heritage of the building, the Welcome to Bowen Hills venue is licenced to hold a truck-full of hungry people (up to 1000) and will feature three to five continually rotating vendors to choose from daily. Just recently, it was announced that food truck royalty King of Wings has signed on for six weeks. How fab! Think names like Mr Burger, Cheeselane, Flavours of Eataly, Bruce the Foodtruck, I Heart Calamari, Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers + more.

Umami

‘Umami (/uˈmɑːmi/), or savoury taste, is one of the five basic tastes (together with sweetness, sourness, bitterness, and saltiness).’ Thanks to George, Matt and Gary (aka those Masterchef boys) Umami is part of our food vocabulary, but I still found myself unable to describe Umami; instead just going with ‘it is Umami.’

Umami is not only the mysterious fifth taste; it is also the name of one of Brisbane’s tastiest restaurants located at the top of the China Town Mall, Fortitude Valley. Umami Bar & Asian Tapas isn’t the new kid on the China Town block but it has had a menu and venue makeover and it is fabulous.

Breaky share plates at Riverbar and Kitchen

posted by Danielle Lewis March 26, 2015 0 comments

Well leave it to the Riverbar and Kitchen to take a meal as awesome as breakfast and make it even more amazing. Share plates people. Share plates. What I love about tapas for dinner is it’s like ordering one of everything off the menu and being able to taste it all. And now that experience can be had at breakfast time as well! With amazing new menu items like granola pots, bacon and egg sliders and smoked salmon bruschetta you’ll want to order one of everything as well!

Their new breakfast menu was put to the ultimate test this morning as over 20 Brisbane food bloggers gave it a whirl. We were in amazing company alongside blogger heavyweights like Gourmand & Gourmet, Bianca Eats, Hello Brisbane Noms, BNECafesDelicious Dishes and little grey box.

If you followed along on Instagram, you would have seen they all gave it the ultimate tick of approval!

Check out the Riverbar and Kitchen’s new menus and shared menus online. And go hungry!

Chloe Brisbane Threads

Tell us about your Monday-Friday?
Monday to Friday I am hanging out at Beginning Boutiques warehouse style office in West End with an amazing team of young creatives. As PR Coordinator I am usually planning events, collaborating with brands and personalities and just generally thinking of rad things we can do for our customers.

What would we find you doing on a Saturday morning?
Saturday morning is always excercise then brekky with the girls!

Best local coffee joint?
I get my coffee every morning from Cocobliss in South Brisbane, the only place I have found that offers coconut milk!

Where is your most frequented Brisbane eat?
My most frequented Brisbane eat would probably be Sushi Kotobuki in East Brisbane (best sushi in Brisbane) followed closely by Sugo Mi in Oxford St (best Pizza in Brisbane).

What is the most worn or precious item in your wardrobe?
My most worn item would probably be my Zara leather jacket and my most precious would be my leopard print Senso’s!

Best fashion go-to in Brisbane?
Beginning Boutique of course 😉 But if I’m up for a day at the shops I will usually hit up Indooroopilly because of the wide range of stores!

If you had a long weekend to scoot away somewhere, where would you head?
Byron Bay for sure! I have family that live there so I don’t have to worry about accommodation and can just enjoy the beach and bars!
