SEVEN TIPS TO HELP YOU SELL YOUR HOUSE

posted by Emmy O'Neill July 28, 2017 1 Comment

Spring is just around the corner and it is the perfect time if you’re thinking about putting your house or unit on the market! Buyers LOVE shopping in Spring so making sure your house is market ready and dressed for sale, so come September, you can hit to property market with a WOW FACTOR!

The old rule is that you only get one chance to make a great first impression. This is so true when it comes to many things and especially true for real estate.  The first time a buyer sees a home is the most important and it all starts right from the moment they pull up out the front…

We caught up with Brad Sissons from Coronis Coorparoo for a cappuccino to learn how to get your house ready for sale!

Custom Made Shoes – Yes Please (part Brogues)

posted by Alice Duffield February 9, 2015 1 Comment

shoes of prey

Buying beautiful quality leather shoesies gives me a sweet sweet high that lasts for miles longer than any actual drug (I imagine). My experience with Shoes of Prey was no exception – although designing your own possibly makes that shoe-high last that much longer.

I went with silver brogues this time, a delicious pair featuring metallic snake skin and yellow leather laces. It was a hard decision (these babies and five other designs sat in my cart for weeks) but one that I stand by.

I feel so conflicted about the concept of custom made shoes. On the one hand – UM, THIS IS ALL MY FASHION DREAMS COME TRUE. On the other hand – this is an ABSOLUTE nightmare for a gal who isn’t so great at making decisions. But eventually I got there.

I wanted a statement pair of comfortable flats that I could wear with jeans and a tee throughout my upcoming overseas travels. So I went with silver. Brogues are the best because they can be worn with boyfriend jeans, skinny jeans, dresses and skirts and everything in between.

My experience with the customer service side of Shoes of Prey was nothing short of outstanding. Once I submitted my order I was told they would be four weeks in production and a few days shipping. Easy. A little less than three weeks later my tootsies were already boasting silvery, leathery deliciousness. I received emails throughout the production process with little updates like ‘Your leather is now being cut’, ‘Your shoes are now getting sewn’, and whatever else the case may have been.

Oh! AND THE PACKAGING. SO beautiful. Seriously. Every little detail thought of and so many little extras included. Pretty dang happy really.

Head on over. If nothing else, it’s super fun just to design your own shoes. You’ll probably be really surprised at the affordability too for such an awesome service. Stay tuned this week for Teagan’s delicious sandals from my new favourite online home – Shoes of Prey.

* While these shoes WERE gifted, this isn’t even a paid / sponsored post. We just seriously love these guys.

BT on the road : Hunter Valley part 2

posted by Alice Duffield December 7, 2014 1 Comment

Welcome to the second and final post on our recent road trip to the Hunter Valley. Here you will be able to check out some of the stops on the way that we felt were worth the mention and a visit! If you missed out on our first post about the Hunter Valley, check it out here.

First stop – Brunswick Heads

For brunch – Footbridge

Footbridge is about 200m from the gorgeous clear blue river at Brunswick Heads and a short walk from the Coast. It has a cool and relaxed vibe with bearded friendly faces behind the counter and nice fresh produce.

For threads  – Sunshine Trader

SUNSHINE TRADER

Sunshine Trader is exactly what you would imagine. It’s a bright, beautiful store full of fun. I listened to the gorgeous and charismatic owner Sheridan talk to her new customers like they were all old friends. The store has been open only a couple of weeks and stocks local fashion, home wares, kid’s goodies and all manner of unique bric-a-brac. If you’re passing through Brunswick Heads, this one is a must-stop!!

(side note: we did actually stay at Coffs Harbour overnight but were kind of disappointed with the accommodation and food so won’t be reporting on that!)

Next Stop – Newcastle

Newcastle Shopping

For coffee and cake – Frankie’s Place

This retro little cafe was a good call to start our morning in Newcastle. We indulged in French toast with bacon and maple syrup, chai lattes and lemon cupcakes. It was like stepping straight into nana’s place with an eclectic collection of vintage chairs and decor.

For Gluten-Free Treats – Ma Belle

This sweet café specialises in all things gluten free. THE WHOLE CABINET WAS GLUTEN FREE. That is super duper rare! Even better yet, if you call ahead they will make you a delicious loaf of gluten free bread. Get on this my gluten sensitive friends!

Newcastle retail

For threads – Scout & Abicus

Scout and Abicus are technically the same company from what I can gather. They are directly across the road from each other in Newcastle’s trendy Darby Street. I think they have a big sister – little sister type thing going on, with Abicus being big sis. I bought a gorgeous pair of Sol-Sana white leather sandals but could have bought much, much more. This place is definitely worth a look for threads. Abicus also has a fantastic music collection, where every album is worth taking home.

For threads & homeBlue Star Elements

I was somewhat hesitant as I walked through the front door of this little shop but I emerged half an hour later with it being an all time favourite. Blue Star sells labels like Elk for attire and plenty of Aussie designers of jewellery and home decor. Walk through to the back of the store and you enter a sun-filled outdoor area piled high with gorgeous plants, succulents and greenery potted in vintage and new pots, not one the same. This sweet store is a definite must-do in Newcastle. I WANTED ALL OF THE THINGS.

Thanks for tuning in to the final post on our road trip adventure. Plan your own and make some of these stops along the way!

This post is long overdue, but I actually think perfect timing considering how nicely the weather has warmed up and now that Spring is upon us! We received a gorgeous picnic basket filled with goodies from our friends at Rekorderlig , set for us to taste their newest flavour ‘Pomegranate’. This delicious addition to the Rekorderlig family has been created specifically with the Australian palate in mind.

This distinctly unique flavour of crisp pear cider, beautifully blended with pomegranate, has a delicious summer fruit fragrance & is a perfect way to liven up your taste buds. Our serving tip is over ice with a wedge of lime for a delicious fresh summer taste. What I love the most is that it’s no fuss… the flavour speaks for itself, no need for mixers, shaking, stirring or bartending skills of any kind!

Pomegranate now features on many restaurant and cocktail bar menus, appealing to both the savoury and sweet palate. We spoke to Rekorderlig’s Marketing Manager, Nikki Langford who said, “We’re really excited to be launching Pomegranate Cider, the latest addition to our portfolio. Always looking to push the boundaries and create innovative flavours for every season, we believe that pomegranate is perfect for the summer”.

We agree, this picnic-perfect taste is pot on for Summer!

Rekorderlig Cider is crafted at the cider’s family owned fourth generation brewery in Vimmerby, Sweden, where it has been made since its first creation. Their full innovative flavour range includes, much-loved Strawberry-Lime, Apple-Guava, Passionfruit, juicy Wild Berries, crisp Pear, tropical Mango-Raspberry, Orange-Ginger, traditional Swedish-style Apple, Apple & Blackcurrant and now Pomegranate.

I think I just found my Summer beverage! xxx
