Daily Outfit Inspo – Chic Grunge

I love the pattern clashing of these two simple summer pieces from Country Road. Mixing up patterns is such an effective way to have that effortlessly chic style.
Mimco have taken a more casual approach this season and it’s really working for them. I’ve been wanting to see some changes at Mimco for years, looks like we might be getting something a little different finally! Keep it casual on these summer days and stay comfy and cool.

This week we caught up with men’s accessories label Skicko – a label that specialises in accessories for men that are good quality, hand finished and designed for the fashion-conscious males among us. Oh, and did I mention their jewellery price points are under $35!

The Gold Coast based label has also recently launched an apparel range of shirts, singlets, track pants and beanies that compliment the simplistic shapes of the jewellery they are known for. The clothes are so on-trend that I want to click ‘add to cart’ under the guise of purchasing for myself my man.

Here’s more about the funky label that is all over men’s fashion and accessories…

Brisbane Threads: When and why did Skicko begin?

Skicko: Our designer and founder Paddy Skicko basically started the Skicko brand when he was a kid. He used to design clothing for school projects in graphics and art and from there he developed an interest in designing jewellery. It was around 2008 when the brand really started to take of and Paddy started to refine the quality and strength of his custom designs. With the current market, price has really outweighed the quality of the jewellery and that drives Paddy to keep making good jewellery. We believe customers deserve better and with our pricing being under $35 per piece, we feel like we’re producing a good, strong and unique product.

BT: What is the Skicko ethos?

Skicko: Forged from a fusion between Australia’s laid-back lifestyle and an appreciation for the modern man’s aesthetic, Skicko embraces the idea that style is uniquely expressive and is unable to be cut, tailored or copied. Each Skicko piece is handcrafted with attention to detail, offering an individualistic approach for fashion conscious men. Skicko creates a relationship between quality products and a respect for all things distinctive.

BT: What is your design process?

Skicko: The jewellery is first designed on the Gold Coast, then its constructed overseas before being put together by hand by Paddy in his office.

BT: Describe the Skicko guy

Skicko: The Skicko guy has style and wants to stand out for all the right reasons. Our jewellery has been designed to make men’s basic clothing stand out and to take away from the large branding and colour explosions in men’s clothing. By simplifying and using earthy tones and burnished metals, the colours are a soothing compliment to modern urban streetwear.

BT: What makes Skicko different?

Skicko: We believe the quality of our products make Skicko special. A lot of time is taken to make each piece. Each Skicko piece has been designed, hand finished and individually packaged for our customers, and we’ve stuck to our design aesthetic since the very beginning.

BT: Where can readers purchase their own Skicko piece?

Skicko: Readers can get Skicko from our online store skicko.com and can follow us on instagram @skicko for sneak peaks of upcoming designs and products.

Visit the Skicko website to browse the collection and to buy online, and follow Skicko on Facebook to stay up-to-date
