Staycation at Marriott

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of a little #staycation with hubby at the Brisbane Marriott to escape the chaos of everyday #mumlife. Truth be told we were incredibly excited (aka couldn’t freaking wait) to drop off the tribe and head into the city for a little #datenight sans babes.

The evening started with the oh-so fancy valet parking (our little corolla was right at home). It was so convenient to be able to drive into the city and not have to worry about searching for a car park. It also made the arrival into the Brisbane Marriott feel that little bit more luxurious.

I instantly fell in love with the old-worldly charm of the Brisbane Marriott. Hello gold and marble! Waiting for us in our Deluxe River View Room was sparkling wine, chocolates and the cutest little bunch of Little Posy Co flowers.

We spent the afternoon and early evening sipping sparkling overlooking the river views whilst the sun was setting and it was textbook romance. No need to sugar coat that. I felt like I was the star in a romcom; not an over tired, baggy eyed mother! Continuing on the theme of luxury I also had the longest bubble bath (without bath toys) and with another glass or two of bubbles!

For dinner we couldn’t resist taking a short walk to our favourite sushi restaurant in the Fortitude Valley, Oyama. Those hand rolls are seriously to die. I love that the Marriott is so close to the Valley and the City. Perfect for those who want to head in for a cocktail or hit a nightclub. We joked about partying until the wee hours of the morning and then instead took an evening stroll along the river all the way to Eagle St Pier. The hustle and bustle of the city on a Friday night along the river is so energizing. We finished the night off in a little courtyard over looking the story bridge and the river eating take away Ben & Jerry’s ice cream tubs.

Once we returned to our Deluxe River room I slept like any sleep-deprived mama spending the night in a luxurious hotel would. Diagonally across the soft king-sized bed surrounded by pillows and snoring until 8AM courtesy of those black out every ray of light curtains.

Upon rising we slowly made our way down to the Motion Bar and Grill for the Buffet Breakfast. All you can eat goodness. I started off with a cheese plate and a freshly squeezed apple juice. My ‘main course’ was the Marriott made to order smoked salmon omelet, a side of bacon and a sneaky hash brown, plus tomatoes and mushrooms to get my vegetables for the day. I should have finished there but I couldn’t resist being asked if I would like waffles OR pancakes OR one of each!! I settled for pancakes and coffee whilst I read the paper in the morning sun. Pure bliss.

The late-checkout until 12pm meant we could go back to our rooms, catch up on emails and socials thanks to the speedy WIFI (hubby watched the NBA on the huge TV) and just relax in our food coma, soaking up those stunning Brisbane river views!

We had the perfect staycation at the Brisbane Marriott enjoying the Date Night Package and can’t wait to have another #ourmarriottescape one night in the future.
