You know you’ve fallen head over heels for something when you can’t decide what pictures to use for a post… It should be feasible to upload 30+ pictures, to save me from choosing between them, right? I wish.
This great decision making debate surfaced after I attended an event to celebrate the launch of the Scotch & Soda Brisbane flagship store to preview the current, in-store collections as well as see the exclusive first showing of the Spring/Summer 2014 collection.
I’ve obviously heard of Scotch & Soda before, but never before have I been so tempted to whip out my credit card to such the degree as I was at the launch, as I stood surrounded by beautiful people and even more beautiful clothes.
The in-store collection is a neutral colour palette full of bottle greens, burgundy, navy, copper, black, camel and shades of white, with splashes of cobalt blue and hot pink on statement pieces and accessories.
And don’t get me started on the textures and embellishments. There’s denim, butter-soft leather, faux fur, corduroy, cotton, wool, sequins, tassels, embroidery and beading. Print wise, there’s animal inspired patterns, printed jeans, lots of stripes and checks and prints I don’t even know how to describe, yet can’t get out of my head.
Every item manages to balance understated and statement-making at the same time and, when teamed with your basics or glam pieces, Scotch & Soda can effortlessly slip right into your own wardrobe.
And the coming SS 14 collection is just as impressive too… and you’ll definitely enjoy the loose silhouettes and floral patterns come September.
The uber cool street wear has a European feel to it and is rich in detail, high in quality and classic in many ways. And, with its roots in Amsterdam, you get that European riding-a-bike-over-canal-bridges feel, right here in Brisbane.
It’s safe to say I will be saving my pennies to make a little piece of Scotch & Soda my own real soon!
Visit the official Scotch & Soda Brisbane stores at Westfield Carindale and on Elizabeth Street in the CBD. You can also find some of the range at selected stockists in Paddington, New Farm, Fortitude Valley, Ascot and the Gold Coast, as well as David Jones at Chermside.
