When I think of James Street there is no denying that thoughts of style, luxury and of course FASHION come to mind.
James Street has been known for years to us Brissie locals as the New York of Brisbane. The location where your bank account can take a serious hit both day and night, swapping between spending some serious dollars on fashion in the morning to having a cocktail or five at night.
Never before have you been able to stay the night right amongst all this hype that is James Street, however now with the addition of the only hotel on the block you can. SAGE Hotel is a unique fashion forward hotel located in the middle of everything and we had the pleasure of staying the night.
Here’s how BT spent 24 hours on James Street and how you can maximise your experience in this fashion wonderland:
Check into SAGE Hotel. I would be lying if I said I didn’t have a cheeky nap after check in, I couldn’t help myself the bed looked way too comfy.
Begin the afternoon with drinks followed by dinner At Sixes and Sevens. A cocktail jug or two go down very well with some tapas or meal off the food menu.
If the night is still young for you, head to Farrier Bar & Supper Club for some drinks and desert with your gal pals. Farrier also have some fantastic bar treats on the menu if you are like me and have a bottomless pit for a stomach.
Head back to your room at SAGE Hotel and get comfy, cranking up the air-con with your hotel robe on (don’t lie to yourself, we all do it), and watch a movie before bed. SAGE has movies on download for only $3.50 which is charged to your room at checkout. #winning
The next day…
Guess what!!! SAGE Hotel gets even better as it’s located right next door to a cute shipping container that is Acai Brothers and Be Bold coffee. Who doesn’t love a healthy dose of Acai in the morning am I right??
Book your appointment with Waterlily as they open their doors to get a relaxing facial or beauty treatment of your choice after checkout to end the stay at SAGE Hotel the right way.
Most of the stores along James Street open roughly around 9 – 9:30am, so get walking and pop into your favourite stores. We love:
- Assembly Label
- Molten Store

Pop into Scrumptious Reads for morning tea and try Sinmei Tea’s hot matcha chocolate or traditional matcha tea over cake and BOOKS! Scrumptious reads is the cutest little bookstore hidden in an alleyway of James St, perfect for a little shopping break and quick refuel to keep going.
LUNCH TIME! Our favourite is Chow House, best food on the block.
Check out time. Say goodbye to luxury and SAGE Hotel, but don’t fret too much, like us I am sure you will fall in love and be back very soon!
So there you have it, 24 hours on James Street thanks to SAGE Hotel, planned to the minute so you don’t waste any time. One word of advice however, make sure you don’t have limits on your bank cards…James Street is dangerous place and money will be spent!
