Today I visited the Regional Flavours event that ran all weekend at South Bank Parklands. The place was chockers! Full of excited Brisbanites lapping up the wine, cheese and chocolate tastings… lounging enjoying the sunshine and live music…. and eagerly note-taking at the cooking demonstrations.
There was so much going on and so many people I almost didn’t know where to start…. so I trotted to one end and decided to work my way through every stall! Several vinos and some AMAZING rockyroad later I settled in for a cooking class by a gorgeous French chef Olivier Boudon (head chef and manager of Sprout at Auchenflower). I’m not a huge seafood fan… but for that accent I could be persuaded!
After catching the scent of freshly cooked haloumi at the Olympus Cheese stall I thought I had better keep walking to work up more of an appetite!
I was quickly stopped again when I heard the lovely sounds of Josh Lovegrove serenading an attentive crowd.
And so the rest of the afternoon unfolded much the same way; stall after stall of exceptional quality local and regional produce; mouthful after mouthful of fabulous flavours and the sounds of laughter and music… what a fantastic day out!
