I am on a never ending hunt for new breakfast places to try in Brisbane… rarely do I have room left for lunch. But one Saturday and a sneaky sleep in later I found myself hungry at midday. So I wandered down to Pearl Cafe in Woolloongabba. I had been there ages ago for breaky and was most impressed, so had my hopes high on what their lunches might be.

I was not disappointed!

Of course, you walk in and are struck by the gorgeous exposed brick walls, the old world trinkets and the selection of locally made preserves. Ok, it was really the fresh baked nectarine friands I was eye-ing off… but a lovely atmosphere none-the-less.

The staff are fun and friendly and love to have a chat about the dishes of the day.

We order…

One strong flat-white. A bloody mary. Fresh-baked sourdough with olive oil and sea salt. A poached chicken and bean salad. Home-made sheet pasta with a smooth spinach and buttery sauce.

Conversation at the table was light, more mumbles in agreeance through mouthfuls of sumptuous flavours.. mmmmm yum!

The bread was warm and soft. The bloody mary like a punch in the face. The salad was flavoursome and full of fun texture. And the pasta literally melted away in your mouth.

Finally we break from eating and smile…. you simply must indulge yourself xo

Couldn’t agree more. Love pearl cafe too. I’m always left feeling happily full of very tasty food. Another great little cafe with tasty breakfasts is Site Cafe at Banyo. 🙂

I do love this place, such great coffee! I can’t go past Pablo in New Farm for a really interesting menu.
