Keep It Clean : Paleo & Raw Eats

Hi Brisbane, you may have seen a barrage of your social media friends talking about Paleo diets or clean eating over the last year, if you’re still wondering what this is all about let me help you out!

Paleo is short for Paleolithic and is a nutritional plan based on the presumed diet of Paleolithic humans, basically it’s all about eating fresh food that is free from the processing and refined ingredients that our modern diets have become based on.  Clean or raw eating is basically the same, it’s all about eating food in their most natural states, again avoiding processed foods, preservatives, added sugars or salt etc.

Now that you know what it is, why am I talking to you about it? This isn’t a health/fitness/diet blog! Paleo and clean eating has become a huge thing all over the world, and even though its still a bit controversial as a full on lifestyle, there’s nothing bad about attempting to eat well in our day to day lives and we here at BrisbaneThreads LOVE to eat out.  Not that we’re terrible cooks but isn’t food always better when someone else has created it?

There’s a number of new Paleo and clean eat cafes, grocers and eateries around Brisbane but I’ve found five great ones that I love and I want YOU to tell me where else is awesome! Comment below or email us and tell us where to go!

Coco Bliss Superfood Bar – Bulimba

What is it? It’s a superfood bar, raw, organic, vegan food and drink that is both good for you and tastes amazing.  And that includes the cake!

Our Suggestion: Acai Bowl – customisable, delicious, and beautiful to look at.

Primal Pantry  – Tenneriffe

What is it?  A place to eat beautiful Paleo food and share reciepes and ideas about the lifestyle.  Owner, Mark Rockley, has worked to bring together a community of like minded people and says the response from Brisbane customers has been amazing.

Our Suggestion:  Moroccan Chicken Pie, wow!

48 Degrees Raw Cafe  – Windsor

What is it? A place for smoothies, juices, lunches and breakfasts but also for detox dinners, workshops and providers of juice cleanses.  Multitalented raw foodies these ones.

Our Suggestion: I love love love a green smoothie and these guys make a killer one, long way for me to travel but worth it!

Purely Decadent Cafe

What is it? A simple, cute hidden gem of a cafe, quietly sitting in the corner of Room for Living in the (always awesome) Woolloongabba Antiques Precinct.  Open for Breakfast, Lunch or sweets Wednesdays to Sundays.

Our Suggestion: Get into one of their ready to eat meals – good healthy food on the run, what more could you ask for?

orawgi

Paleo Cafe  – Paddington

What is it?  An awesome cafe essentially, the only difference is that it’s all about living the Paleo lifestyle.  Healthful food free from processing and preservatives.  Sounds good right? Tastes amazing!

Our Suggestion: Get onto the pancakes for breakky or the Lamb burger for lunch.

Orawgi – Woolloongabba

What is it? Raw, Low GI, a yoga studio out the back and the loveliest owner Jaime Louise who’s mission in life it to nourish your soul.

Our Suggestion: Try something new every time you visit, the team are always inventing amazing treats based on local produce!
