For the most of it, my home town of the Gold Coast has got a pretty bad wrap fashion wise. I mean, to be completely honest, it never used to be that great.
When the average person thinks of Gold Coast fashion, the first things that come to mind are resort wear, swimwear, fluoro and general tackiness. But then, something changed and like a fashion saviour, came Joy Hysteric at Broadbeach. Founded in 2004, Joy Hysteric is a destination store, showcasing boutique collections by Australian and international designers. For those that might not be aware, Broadbeach is Surfers’ Paradises’ stylish, more grown up cousin, you know, the one that you always wanted to be when you were you little.
Joy Hysteric stocks an absolutely amazing collection of brands. For example, Dion Lee, Low Luv x Erin Wasson, Miss Unkon, Romance Was Born, Twenty8Twelve and Wildfox plus many, many more. The store space itself is also gorgeous; all tall mirrors and sleek finishings. As an added bonus it’s surrounded by delicious cafes, restaurants and other quirky/fashion foward shops. Joy Hysteric is one of those shops that you can’t leave without buying one (or 10) new threads for your collection (and not feel remotely bad about it!). You can also shop the whole store (and more) online.
Love Nicole x
