Sunday mornings in my household are sleepy and find one thing on the agenda… where to for breakfast? It is my mission to try a new place every week and my quest this week found me on the doorstep of Jam Jar… a sneaky little hidey hole on Boundary Street in West End.
From the front Jam Jar looks neat and small with only a couple of tables… but we are greeted by an enthusiastic grin and ushered out the back to the courtyard. The space is filled with handmade mismatched tables, bare brick walls covered in graffiti and buzzing with the cheery chatter of other Sunday morning coffee hunters.
The menu is perfect, light options for those struggling on a Sunday morning, hangover cures, vege delights and my new obsession dukkah poached eggs!
The food is quick and 5-star! Perfectly poached eggs, freshly baked organic rye and their own homemade dukkah that I’d fight the chef for the recipe for!
And in true West End style they are brimming with the arts… electro jazz every Monday; boogie piano every Friday and Saturday night; regular poetry slams and the artworks adorning the walls for sale.
Jam Jar’s mantra is Food. Drink. Think. And they certainly do all 3 well.
