How to Rock a Vampy Winter Lip

This week saw the Annual Met Ball go down in NYC, with a surprising clear trend from the night –the vampy berry/brown lip. Super nineties yet somehow classy, this colour is not for the faint hearted (in my opinion it could be one of the hardest trends to master).

If you plan to create one of these perfect winter lips, there are a few tips that will bring the colour out from the nineties and into 2012:

1. Keep it glossy: a matte brown lip just screams “I am in the age bracket of 70 or older”. Waken up the colour with a touch of clear lip gloss over the top.

2. Keep your skin fresh and dewy: a statement lip always calls for as perfect as possible skin.  Try not to add too much powder; matte skin and a berry brown lipstick = a dead complexion. Think Addams family. Yeah, a no go zone. Dewy is much better.

3. Keep the eyes bare: There is no need to pile on the brown eye shadow or apply lashings of liquid liner with this look. A little bit of brow pencil to prevent the eyes getting lost is all you need. The lips are enough of a statement, so keep everyone’s eyes on them!

Finally, have fun! Pretend you are at the Met Ball whenever you rock your vampy berry lips and smile for the camera!
