It is officially party season! And I know we are all excited… but that’s NO EXCUSE to pull out the bright blue eye-shadow!!

I am notoriously unadventurous when it comes to make-up, but I do like to shush-it-up a little for a shindig!

My make-up of choice is Issada Cosmetics. So for my first Christmas party of the season I booked in a make-over (yes they are redeemable for product!) and let the gorgeous make-up artists do their work! What I love most about getting my make-up done with Issada is the comprehensive face chart they provide and keep on file for you (check out mine below!). It’s a fabulous way to remember what product goes where, when you go to do it yourself!

While I was there they offered a few tips for a novice like me, so I thought i’d share them with you. Thanks to the beautiful Sarah Patel from the Issada Creative team, for sharing her tips with Brisbane Threads!

Sarah’s Top 3 Tips:

1. Remember your audience

Do you work in a strict, corporate environment? Or is your office culture a little more fun, relaxed and creative? If your boss and colleagues are quite conservative, your Christmas party is probably not the time to try out that 360 black smokey eye with a fuschia lip. When in doubt, you can never go wrong with a slick of Issada’s Gel Liner, $40, some Issada Luxe Lashes in One by One (individual) $22, and a wearable lip shade like Issada’s Pink Truffle, $42.

2. Lasting Power

Your Christmas party is still a work function and you want to appear polished, so uneven, fading lip Colour is a no-no! Go for the longest wearing lip product you can find – Issada’s Mineral Lip Crayons, $48, are perfect. Supremely long lasting but still nourishing and hydrating, these crayons will withstand canapés and cocktails with just minimal (if any) touch ups).

3. Join the Glitterati

A little sophisticated sparkle goes a long way! Whether its a shimmering, wet look metallic eye (try one of Issada’s Baked Mineral Shadows, $45, used wet) or full-scale glitter glamour (Issada’s Starlet Collection, $69) on eyes or lips,  it is the festive season after all – so don’t be afraid to sparkle!
