Mid-Year Resolutions

posted by Emmy O'Neill June 30, 2017 0 comments

Can we just stop the clock and ask ourselves how is it nearly July? The second half of 2017 is about to start and we are moving towards 2018. The Winter Solstise has already happened. Those little Buddy the Elf memes with the number of sleeps until Christmas have already started!! And I don’t know about you, but I have certainly not made a dent into my 2017 New Year’s resolutions…

So why not wipe the slate clean and start again. Mid-Year Resolutions are so the new ‘New Year Resolutions’ #Right?

June at Dendy for Grownups and Littlies

Grown up fun at Dendy Portside

You know those mornings when you wake up, vague memories of the night before, way too many drinks and the late night pizza (or maccas dash) on the way home? That ‘rough night’ we all try to forget, where we were just letting our hair down and having fun out with fiends? Yeah that night. Well… Rough Night is the new #LMAO R-rated comedy about just that… a group of girls having a weekend renion-turned rough night… which may or may not include killing a stripper (by accident of course). SIX Tips for First Time Home Buyers

posted by Emmy O'Neill June 2, 2017 1 Comment

We all dream of the white picket fence, weatherboard house, with a verandah that wraps around… in grey and white; close to good schools, great coffee and a backyard for the chickens? Okay they might not be your dreams… but they are someones (ahem #overhere #yesme). Owning your own house & all those future home dreams are so individual. We all like different styles of homes, different areas and we all have different needs, and especially different budgets. But regardless of what type of home you might be day-dreaming about owning, taking the plunge and deciding you want to enter the property market is a huge step. We caught up with Brad Sissons from Coronis Coorparoo and he shared his top SIX tips for first time home buyers… including one which you might not expect (and just secretly it may have been our personal favourite here at BT headquarters).

A confession of a yogi wannabe…

posted by Emmy O'Neill May 26, 2017 0 comments

Recently I had the privilege of trying the Inna Bliss Six-Week Beginner Yoga Course. Full disclosure; to say I am a beginner at yoga would be a bit of lie. But then it would also be telling the truth, because in some ways I feel like yoga is one of those things that no matter how much you do there is always more to learn.

My very first experience of yoga was watching a video cassette (not a DVD, so that might reveal my age #AnyoneElseAn80sChild) back in the early 2000’s… I then tried class after class; hopping between studios and yoga styles for the next ten years.

TK Maxx opens 8 stores in Brisbane!

posted by Danielle Lewis May 4, 2017 0 comments

I would be lying if I said I didn’t look forward to a good late-night shopping sesh or spend my week dreaming of browsing store shelves on the weekend. There’s something about those shiny new shoes, or the lure of picking up a bargain that gets the blood pumping! So when we were invited to explore the new TK Maxx retail store at the Homemaker Centre in Fortitude Valley, I was pretty quick to reply with a ‘yes please!!’.

Brisbane Events with a Twist – Beanbags!

posted by Danielle Lewis April 10, 2017 0 comments

Here at Brisbane Threads we attend and plan a LOT of events. And we’ve been to our fair share that have been thrown together at the last minute and really left a lot to be desired. So when it comes to the little details that can leave a lasting impression on guests, we are always on the hunt to find awesome local businesses that deliver.

And let me tell you, we threw a team event right here at the Brisbane Threads office a couple of weeks ago, and stumbled onto a goldmine. A Beanbag goldmine that is!! You see, we just moved into our office earlier this year and we are yet to deck it out completely. So when it came time to organising an event, we realised that we really didn’t have a ‘chill out’ area to hang out and have a drink with the team. The AMAZE-ING team at Beanbags Hire & Sales came to our rescue and I can’t tell you what a difference it made to our space and how it left everyone talking!

We hired 15 beanbags to fill up the space and put on drinks, nibbles and a game of Mario Kart – team building at it’s finest!

I was actually a bit worried that we might spill our drinks on the beanbags or that they might be worn out from previous use, so I was absolutely blown away when the lovely Toula arrived and set them up and told me you can simply wipe them clean with a wipe.

Beanbags Hire & Sales use their own designed & trademarked bean bag called the iSEAT® and it’s phenomenal quality vinyl, tear drop shaped, in 10 different colours, all looking brand spanking new AND they are made in Australia. They are adult size which made everyone in the team feel comfortable and relaxed. Plus it added a new level of fun to the afternoon.

Beanbags Hire & Sales have over 100 bean bags available for hire and they deliver and pick up as well, which makes setting up for any event a breeze.

The beanbags are perfect for a fun afternoon with friends, a birthday party or even bigger corporate events.

And I know you think there couldn’t be any more to rave about bean bags, but in speaking to Toula I also found out that they work very closely with different charities and local community organisations as well, so by supporting their business you are also helping them support our community as well!

If you have an event coming up, don’t hesitate to reach out to Toula or the team on the contact details below:

The iSEAT® is also for sale and can be custom made to your corporate, sports club or school colours, see iseat.com.au for further details.

Time of the Month

posted by Emmy O'Neill April 7, 2017 0 comments

That ‘Time Of the Month’ is usually one of the times we don’t usually like to talk or even read about.

Women get all embarrassed and men (well sorry if you are reading and not meaning to generalise), but men usually just get grossed out. I don’t know about you, but growing up in the late 90’s early 00’s it kind of felt like getting your period was an annoyance and stopped the pace of normal life. The number of girls in high school who couldn’t participate in sport lessons because ‘flo had come to town’ was a weekly occurrence. It felt like advertisements about ‘that time of the month’ were promoting the need to avoid those awkward and embarrassing moments that happen when you get your period.

Sleeping In Style

posted by Madi West March 9, 2017 0 comments

When I think of James Street there is no denying that thoughts of style, luxury and of course FASHION come to mind.

James Street has been known for years to us Brissie locals as the New York of Brisbane. The location where your bank account can take a serious hit both day and night, swapping between spending some serious dollars on fashion in the morning to having a cocktail or five at night.

Never before have you been able to stay the night right amongst all this hype that is James Street, however now with the addition of the only hotel on the block you can. SAGE Hotel is a unique fashion forward hotel located in the middle of everything and we had the pleasure of staying the night.

Staycation at Marriott

posted by Emmy O'Neill March 3, 2017 0 comments

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of a little #staycation with hubby at the Brisbane Marriott to escape the chaos of everyday #mumlife. Truth be told we were incredibly excited (aka couldn’t freaking wait) to drop off the tribe and head into the city for a little #datenight sans babes.
