Green Light: Save on your Power Bill

posted by Maddie Vlismas October 6, 2017 0 comments

Ever tried to eat your UberEats without the lights on? It can be a bit of a mission #right? Light bulbs are frankly a pretty underrated part of a home; but oh-so important and can impact its entire vibe (and cost, if you’re not up to speed with money saving globes). So it’s important to choose a globe that is both energy efficient, long lasting (and good lookin’).

Time To Write

posted by Emmy O'Neill September 11, 2017 0 comments

How often do we take pen to paper and just write? I mean we rarely even have to sign for using a credit card these days! I know for me there is so much disconnect from paper and pens; we are living in an all-consuming digital age. Phones, tablets, computers, e-readers… it is all screens. Can you remember when getting a pen licence was the coolest thing to happen in primary school? #ThoseWereTheDays Those glory days of papers and pens might seem like a distant memory of the past; but research by Officeworks, in partnership with Deakin University, has revealed that we should actually dust off those pen licences, get out our notebooks and start writing! A Helping Hand With Cart-A-Lot

posted by Maddie Vlismas August 10, 2017 0 comments

Here at Brisbane Threads we love functionality and we’ve stumbled across the most genius of inventions; Cart-A-Lot!

Cart-A-Lot is Australia’s first foldable cart and is a start up company run by an Australian family from South Australia. Rebecca & Anthony Keain had the idea on an overseas holiday in 2o14 when they saw a woman with her three children at a restaurant pull out what looked like folded stroller from under their table. The Keain’s watched the woman “unfold it in one easy action, load it up and leave the restaurant with her children and her belongings all simply in tow.”

They looked to buy their own and when they couldn’t find one in Australia- they built it themselves.

The cart can hold up to 70kg, meaning it can be used to cart children, dogs, beach gear, shopping, sports equipment; you name it! Some of their added accessories can convert the cart into an esky, shopping trolly and much more. It’s quick and easy folding action is one the cart’s best features, meaning you won’t spend half of your trip having to assemble it.

It has solid, rubber wheels and a powder coated steel frame with a durable polyester fabric meaning the Cart-A-Lot is ready for anything. The Cart-A-Lot also comes in an off road model too! It folds down to a super compact size (79cm H x 51cm W x 19cm D) and can fit in most car boots, or even be hung on a wall at home.

For families, Cart-A-Lot is a saviour and can save you so much time and hassle when on the go. No more juggling kids and toys and whatever else there may be- just pop it all in the cart. Even if you don’t have a young family, Cart-A-Lot is just as handy for beach trips, barbecues, strolling through a market or carrying sports gear around.

Accessories and add-ons compliment cart use and include a cover, a waterproof liner and even an umbrella!

Adulting (verb): to do grown up things

posted by Emmy O'Neill August 4, 2017 0 comments

Adulting (verb): to do grown up things and hold responsibilities and that make you be considered to be a grown up.

I know a lot of our generation kind of baulk at the idea of adulting. Often we feel like we fail at being an adult. Being responsible and grown up can be hard sometimes. No need to sugar coat it. It’s not that we don’t want to grow up and responsible, but that we just don’t seem to have it together all of the time.

One way to up your adulting game is to take responsibly for your health. Continue Reading

The Float Space

posted by Emmy O'Neill July 31, 2017 0 comments

In this fast paced, 24/7 digital world it is often impossible to turn off, to de-stress, to relax, be still and just let go. We are often so consumed with our work, with our phones, with ‘staying connected’ via social media that self-care, relaxation and mindfulness are the last of our priorities. Sound familiar?

So last week when our designer announced that he had tried ‘floating’ to help with mental clarity and relaxation; my stressed out self sat up, listened and took notice. Floating? Did I hear him correctly? In case you are like me living under a rock for this past year; you might be oblivious to ‘Floatation Centres.’ Turns out floating is all the craze and rightly so! Anything that boasts positive health benefits, detoxifying AND de-stresses is a good thing! So I reached out to The Float Space in West End and promptly booked in a session. Continue Reading
