Sleeping In Style

posted by Madi West March 9, 2017 0 comments

When I think of James Street there is no denying that thoughts of style, luxury and of course FASHION come to mind.

James Street has been known for years to us Brissie locals as the New York of Brisbane. The location where your bank account can take a serious hit both day and night, swapping between spending some serious dollars on fashion in the morning to having a cocktail or five at night.

Never before have you been able to stay the night right amongst all this hype that is James Street, however now with the addition of the only hotel on the block you can. SAGE Hotel is a unique fashion forward hotel located in the middle of everything and we had the pleasure of staying the night.

Trainspotting at Dendy

posted by Emmy O'Neill February 14, 2017 0 comments

Who doesn’t love a glass of bubbles and the red carpet whilst at the movies? We love us a movie preveiw screening especially when it is 20 years in the making!

This Friday 17th February Dendy Portside are hosting a red carpet screening of the sequel to Trainspotting; the 1996 movie which had a cult following, killer soundtrack (remember Underworld’s ‘Born Slippy’) and made us fall in love with that sexy Scottish accent. Funny, serious, confronting, heart-breaking & beautiful. T2 Trainspotting promises all that and more. It is set exactly twenty years later in 2016 with the same cast including Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner and John Lee Miller. This Scottish black comedy directed by Danny Boyle is rebellious, fast-paced and promises to have and even sexier soundtrack.  Continue Reading

We’ve found the perfect getaway for you to enjoy a casual & relaxing lunch. Situated on the Watermall level, the QAG Café is a hidden gem inside the huge gallery.  The tranquility and abundance of the water is a constant reminder that you are in fact in our lovely river city.

The Danger Ensemble

posted by Emmy O'Neill February 7, 2017 0 comments

“Hey Lovers, we want HATERS. Know someone who thinks theatre is boring? Irrelevant? Thinks Shakespeare is for old people? We want those people at our show.”

Not your typical theatre plug but there is nothing ‘typical’ about The Danger Ensemble. I love me some thinking-outside-of-the-all-the-boxes-marketing strategies. The Danger Ensemble is really embracing the age of social media; Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and they even created a Spotify playlist. These efforts to publicise Macbeth are on point, completely relevant and actually make me intrigued and want to go see some Shakespeare. But before I head off to opening night this Thursday I wanted to sit down with Artistic Director Steven Mitchell Wright and ask him a few questions.
