While many Brisbane locals are making the most of this Easter long weekend & escaping our glorious city… there are many who are left behind pondering important life questions like… where we can get our caffeine fix?

Don’t stress you’re not going to have to survive on instant coffee this weekend…unless you want to. We have rounded up some of our favourite Brisbane cafes that are open over the Easter long weekend serving espresso, eggs and avo on toast… all the essentials really.

Brisbane Events with a Twist – Beanbags!

posted by Danielle Lewis April 10, 2017 0 comments

Here at Brisbane Threads we attend and plan a LOT of events. And we’ve been to our fair share that have been thrown together at the last minute and really left a lot to be desired. So when it comes to the little details that can leave a lasting impression on guests, we are always on the hunt to find awesome local businesses that deliver.

And let me tell you, we threw a team event right here at the Brisbane Threads office a couple of weeks ago, and stumbled onto a goldmine. A Beanbag goldmine that is!! You see, we just moved into our office earlier this year and we are yet to deck it out completely. So when it came time to organising an event, we realised that we really didn’t have a ‘chill out’ area to hang out and have a drink with the team. The AMAZE-ING team at Beanbags Hire & Sales came to our rescue and I can’t tell you what a difference it made to our space and how it left everyone talking!

We hired 15 beanbags to fill up the space and put on drinks, nibbles and a game of Mario Kart – team building at it’s finest!

I was actually a bit worried that we might spill our drinks on the beanbags or that they might be worn out from previous use, so I was absolutely blown away when the lovely Toula arrived and set them up and told me you can simply wipe them clean with a wipe.

Beanbags Hire & Sales use their own designed & trademarked bean bag called the iSEAT® and it’s phenomenal quality vinyl, tear drop shaped, in 10 different colours, all looking brand spanking new AND they are made in Australia. They are adult size which made everyone in the team feel comfortable and relaxed. Plus it added a new level of fun to the afternoon.

Beanbags Hire & Sales have over 100 bean bags available for hire and they deliver and pick up as well, which makes setting up for any event a breeze.

The beanbags are perfect for a fun afternoon with friends, a birthday party or even bigger corporate events.

And I know you think there couldn’t be any more to rave about bean bags, but in speaking to Toula I also found out that they work very closely with different charities and local community organisations as well, so by supporting their business you are also helping them support our community as well!

If you have an event coming up, don’t hesitate to reach out to Toula or the team on the contact details below:

The iSEAT® is also for sale and can be custom made to your corporate, sports club or school colours, see for further details.

Time of the Month

posted by Emmy O'Neill April 7, 2017 0 comments

That ‘Time Of the Month’ is usually one of the times we don’t usually like to talk or even read about.

Women get all embarrassed and men (well sorry if you are reading and not meaning to generalise), but men usually just get grossed out. I don’t know about you, but growing up in the late 90’s early 00’s it kind of felt like getting your period was an annoyance and stopped the pace of normal life. The number of girls in high school who couldn’t participate in sport lessons because ‘flo had come to town’ was a weekly occurrence. It felt like advertisements about ‘that time of the month’ were promoting the need to avoid those awkward and embarrassing moments that happen when you get your period.

Local fashion label Deluxe Clothing Co

posted by Danielle Lewis April 1, 2017 0 comments

At Brisbane Threads we pride ourselves on uncovering the best local produce, fashion, experiences and people our darling little city has to offer, and this week we stumbled on a gem! Deluxe Clothing CO, deluxe designs for the deluxe individual. And I don’t know about you, but I consider myself pretty deluxe! {Insert cute monkey emoji here!} But on a serious note, these guys have some seriously cool threads, and they are based right here in Brisbane.

The ladies range has 7 unique custom designed tanks and tees each of them badass enough to wear to the gym, chilling with friends or styled up with skinny jeans and heels for a night out.

The pineapple man tank is next on my wishlist!

The mens range features 14 unique styles, just as perfect for an afternoon at the skate park as an afternoon of Netflix.

Plus, everything is custom-made when you order!

The thing we love MOST about Deluxe Clothing Co is definitely the quality. I received my first tank last week and was absolutely blown away with how soft the fabric felt but how good a quality it was. I’ve purchased many a tee that has fallen apart in the first wash, but this bad boy looks like he’s here to stay for many washes to come! It makes sense the quality is the first on their list of company values.

Deluxe Clothing Co is a small business, and like many good things that come out of Brisbane, happened over a few beers and has grown from there. We think these guys are killing it and would love for you to show your support by checking out their goods and sharing them with your friends!

Prova Pizzeria

The last time I was in Italy was nearly ten years ago. While that actually seems like a lifetime ago; I feel that spending five weeks in the country makes me an expert. Ok not an ‘expert-expert’ but more like a I-have-actually-been-to-Italy-so-I-can-write-about-Italian-food expert #youfeelme? So this brings me to Prova Pizzeria.

Umami - Brisbane Threads

‘Umami (/uˈmɑːmi/), or savoury taste, is one of the five basic tastes (together with sweetness, sourness, bitterness, and saltiness).’ Thanks to George, Matt and Gary (aka those Masterchef boys) Umami is part of our food vocabulary, but I still found myself unable to describe Umami; instead just going with ‘it is Umami.’

Umami is not only the mysterious fifth taste; it is also the name of one of Brisbane’s tastiest restaurants located at the top of the China Town Mall, Fortitude Valley. Umami Bar & Asian Tapas isn’t the new kid on the China Town block but it has had a menu and venue makeover and it is fabulous.

Sleeping In Style

posted by Madi West March 9, 2017 0 comments

When I think of James Street there is no denying that thoughts of style, luxury and of course FASHION come to mind.

James Street has been known for years to us Brissie locals as the New York of Brisbane. The location where your bank account can take a serious hit both day and night, swapping between spending some serious dollars on fashion in the morning to having a cocktail or five at night.

Never before have you been able to stay the night right amongst all this hype that is James Street, however now with the addition of the only hotel on the block you can. SAGE Hotel is a unique fashion forward hotel located in the middle of everything and we had the pleasure of staying the night.

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of a little #staycation with hubby at the Brisbane Marriott to escape the chaos of everyday #mumlife. Truth be told we were incredibly excited (aka couldn’t freaking wait) to drop off the tribe and head into the city for a little #datenight sans babes.
