Stay Warm in Style

posted by Maddie Vlismas June 23, 2017 0 comments
ATTN: Brisbaners! It. Is. Cold.

Every year we are unprepared and downright shocked when the sun leaves our little slice of paradise and goes on holiday to the Northern Hemisphere, leaving us to freeze our little butts off. This year will be different! Say goodbye to your trakky-daks and hoodie (not forever, just leave them at home) because we’re here to help you stay toasty warm and fashionable too! Take that Melbourners…

Spotlight On Ruby & Lilli

posted by Emmy O'Neill May 19, 2017 0 comments

This week we are shining the Spotlight On Ruby & Lilli; a Brisbane based label created by the fabulous Rachael; a self professed ‘curvy Mama with a deep love for the perfect jeans + tee + flats combo’.

Ruby & Lilli aims at producing wardrobe staples that you will feel amazing in, will never date & works across all the seasons. Think stripes and scarves #teamstripesforever. Designed by Rachael each piece of the Ruby & Lilli collection is made to flatter curves of all sizes. The signature detail of Ruby & Lilli pieces is ‘sass + sparkle’ who doesn’t love a bit of sass + sparkle in their everyday!

Brisbane Threads caught up with this lipstick loving & champagne sipping Rachel and have to say we have a bit of a crush really; both of this sassy lady & her divine label Ruby & Lilli.

TK Maxx opens 8 stores in Brisbane!

posted by Danielle Lewis May 4, 2017 0 comments

I would be lying if I said I didn’t look forward to a good late-night shopping sesh or spend my week dreaming of browsing store shelves on the weekend. There’s something about those shiny new shoes, or the lure of picking up a bargain that gets the blood pumping! So when we were invited to explore the new TK Maxx retail store at the Homemaker Centre in Fortitude Valley, I was pretty quick to reply with a ‘yes please!!’.

Local fashion label Deluxe Clothing Co

posted by Danielle Lewis April 1, 2017 0 comments

At Brisbane Threads we pride ourselves on uncovering the best local produce, fashion, experiences and people our darling little city has to offer, and this week we stumbled on a gem! Deluxe Clothing CO, deluxe designs for the deluxe individual. And I don’t know about you, but I consider myself pretty deluxe! {Insert cute monkey emoji here!} But on a serious note, these guys have some seriously cool threads, and they are based right here in Brisbane.

The ladies range has 7 unique custom designed tanks and tees each of them badass enough to wear to the gym, chilling with friends or styled up with skinny jeans and heels for a night out.

The pineapple man tank is next on my wishlist!

The mens range features 14 unique styles, just as perfect for an afternoon at the skate park as an afternoon of Netflix.

Plus, everything is custom-made when you order!

The thing we love MOST about Deluxe Clothing Co is definitely the quality. I received my first tank last week and was absolutely blown away with how soft the fabric felt but how good a quality it was. I’ve purchased many a tee that has fallen apart in the first wash, but this bad boy looks like he’s here to stay for many washes to come! It makes sense the quality is the first on their list of company values.

Deluxe Clothing Co is a small business, and like many good things that come out of Brisbane, happened over a few beers and has grown from there. We think these guys are killing it and would love for you to show your support by checking out their goods and sharing them with your friends!

When I think of James Street there is no denying that thoughts of style, luxury and of course FASHION come to mind.

James Street has been known for years to us Brissie locals as the New York of Brisbane. The location where your bank account can take a serious hit both day and night, swapping between spending some serious dollars on fashion in the morning to having a cocktail or five at night.

Never before have you been able to stay the night right amongst all this hype that is James Street, however now with the addition of the only hotel on the block you can. SAGE Hotel is a unique fashion forward hotel located in the middle of everything and we had the pleasure of staying the night.

Sunglasses For Summer

posted by Michaela Petrofes December 1, 2016 0 comments

Hooray, summer is upon us! While we revamp our summer wardrobes and treat ourselves to a new hair style, there’s something else that needs an overhaul for the new season… Sunglasses. With so many different shapes, colours and styles to choose from it can be a little difficult to know which ones to commit to all summer long. We have the best 5 sunglasses from VisionDirect to treat yourself to this season.

Aviator Sunglasses

Ah, the aviator. A well loved style and the perfect relaxed summer style! Paired effortlessly with a beach look for when you’re heading coastal or with an ‘off duty’ style for city times, the aviators are the all around summer style. Tom Ford Rick Aviators are the perfect style to accompany you through the warmer season with their golden frames and blue hues; you’ll love them so much you’ll probably end up sporting them all year long.

Cat Eye Sunglasses

A style that’s surely on the rise is the cat eye sunglasses. This edgy style is perfect for those days spent in the sun at your favourtie rooftop hangs around the city. Prada’s Cinema Evolution cat eye sunglasses are the perfect pair for such things. A thicker frame around the face with pointed edges give off an elegant, ‘off beat’ vibe you’ll love all summer long.

Round Sunglasses

Heading to a festival this summer? Be sure to snap a pair of the timeless round sunglasses to boggy along with you all summer long. Round frames offer the perfect dose of funky vibes every time you put them on. Ray Ban’s Round Fleck Sunglasses are the funkiest of all – with tortoise spotted frames and lenses that reflect summer sunsets; you’ll find yourself never leaving the house without them.

Wayfarer Sunglasses

The ultimate cool girl style is the wayfarer sunglass. The ‘little sister’ of aviators, this style is perfect to pair with your classic black jeans and white tee combo. Spruce it up a bit with the Dolce and Gabbana wayfarers that sport a gold side paneling against a matte black frame for that extra burst of cool vibes to carry you through all summer long.

Wooden Frames

If you’re looking for a true stand out this summer, wooden frames are your go-to. This understated look is a must have for the season as they come in basically every colour and every shape! Whether you choose to go for a full wooden frame or one broken up with metal paneling, you’re sure to love the minimalistic vibes they add to all your summer adventures, no matter where they may take you.

If you’re still unsure of which lenses are for you, take the quiz!

Check out the full range of VisionDirect’s designer sunglasses here and if you’re a Ray Ban’s fan, check out their huge range of Ray Ban styles here.

posted by Teagan West November 22, 2016 0 comments

Let me start by saying that when I say “my experience with Institchu” I am largely speaking writing on behalf of my partner Matt. In saying that, it was a pretty darn good experience for the both of us, he’s just the one that gets to wear the suit!
