Coming soon to Brisbane: W Hotel

posted by Karlicca Culalic January 31, 2018 0 comments

It’s been twenty years since a luxurious hotel has swooped in on Brisbane territory and made its mark. That’s twenty long years without 312 stylish guest rooms, 29 suites, two Wow Suites and one Extreme Wow Suite around town calling a prime piece of Brisbane real estate home. Alas, not for much longer!

posted by Karlicca Culalic December 18, 2017 0 comments

Let’s talk New Years. What are you doing, where are you going, who are you going with…what are you wearing? (Oh god, what am I wearing). These are all questions I’ve been asked within the last few days I have no idea the answers to. Except maybe what I’m wearing – a gal always sort of secretly knows… all this, and I haven’t even wrapped my Christmas presents yet. Oh dear.

If you’re like me (stuck), you could be just an instant away from the turn-around moment. Here’s a roundup of a few Brisbane NYE events and there’s a high chance you are very much likely to adore! Bring in the New Year in true BT style. Fabulously, that is.

Christmas Lights! The Best Brisbane Suburbs 2017

posted by Karlicca Culalic December 15, 2017 0 comments

Presents, parties, stone fruit and beach weather. Add in, Love Actually, Michael Buble and the cute pastel hats you get in Christmas bon-bons – you know, the ones that seriously do not fit anyone’s head and sling over one eye whilst you eat your weight in pav but everyone still loves and insists to wear anyway? Those. That’s my list of reasons why December is my absolute favourite month of the year. And here’s one more: CHRISTMAS LIGHTS.

If you love to hit up the most lit suburbs (literally) each Christmas, then look no further. Here’s where you’ll find Brisbane’s best lighting displays…

The Official BT Wishlist: Our Top 25+ Christmas Gifting Ideas

posted by Karlicca Culalic December 7, 2017 0 comments

In mid-November (when I noticed Westfield had put up their Christmas decorations) my gift ideas could be mapped out on a scale of non-existent to, well, majorly uninspiring. Fast forward to today and here I am sitting at my desk, flicking two pages of my diary back and forth with zero change in circumstances. No presents and no ideas. So how do you turn this all-too-familiar Christmas narrative into a Christmas miracle you ask?! Five words: the official BT Christmas Wishlist. It’s a collection of our most-loved products this year and it makes a dashing list of Christmas gift ideas if I do say so myself. Consider it our present to you. Merry Christmas!

Spotlight On: Arkie the Label

posted by Karlicca Culalic December 1, 2017 0 comments

Arkie Barton is a formidable fresh-face on the Brisbane design scene and undoubtedly a name to remember. The designs of her namesake label Arkie, enthused by inspirations from her Indigenous Australian heritage have already flourished runways of Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival and earlier this year at the National Reconciliation Week in West Africa. Most recently, you could find Arkie running rainbow illustration workshops to spearhead the dreamy Yayoi Kusama exhibition at GOMA. With a new collection in the works, we had a quick chat with Arkie about all things that inspire her multi-hued design aesthetic! From the cultural expression she has so strikingly emulated through fashion to trends she’s loving and loathing AND of course, how to rock a bold piece from her collection this summer…

At the movies: SHOT CALLER

posted by Emmy O'Neill November 23, 2017 0 comments

I’m not normally someone who sees a movie without watching the trailer first. I like to know what I am getting myself into… and for the record I normally pick ROM-COMS “Oh hello It’s Complicated”. But today I was feeling a little spontaneous and thought to myself, live on the edge and see a movie you know nothing about.

Lonely Planet names Newstead one of the coolest neighbourhoods in Australia

posted by Karlicca Culalic November 22, 2017 0 comments

It’s official. Lonely Planet, yes, THAT Lonely Planet (to reiterate the very same one that awards accolades to the likes of dreamy Paris and London) has named *our* Newstead one of the three coolest neighbourhoods in Australia. I’m sorry but we can’t help feeling like a proud mum. Territorial even, like a die-hard, day one fan of an underground indie rock band everyone’s just discovered playing on Nova. Alas, it’s no surprise this neck of the woods has made it in the big league. Newstead is a treasure trove of exclusive restaurants, bars and cafe’s alike. So without further ado, here are ten reasons we love this leafy riverside ‘it’ suburb. When I say reasons, I mean more like – fantastic places to consider putting on your mental list of places to eat next. As always though, you’re welcome.

#WhatsOn: Five things happening in Brisbane

posted by Karlicca Culalic November 16, 2017 0 comments

INCOMING – our busiest month of the calendar is fast approaching! Here are five events you’ll absolutely want to ink into your schedules this week…

#1. A new botanical bar *slash* tropical garden oasis opens up in West End

Brisbane meet Covent Bar, opening TODAY in your West End backyard. It’s a nod to London’s iconic Covent Garden – super-lux, super-vibrant and super lush! Think of this space as a perfect afternoon treat yourself to play catch-up’s with your nearest and dearest and try a selection of Covent’s 100 craft gins. There will be contemporary share-plates as well as Pimms and Aperol Spritz flowing. If you’re feeling adventurous, Covent also has a seasonal house speciality appropriately named The Garden of Eden. It’s a clever mix of Tanqueray gin, absinthe rinse, fresh pressed apple juice, medicinal syrup, charred lime and white pepper tincture. YUM. A haven away from the hustle and bustle of the neighbouring city and BT is all about it!

When: Thursday, 16 November
Where: 142 Boundary St, West End Continue Reading
