The first ever Food Truck PheNomNomNom was a HUGE hit, so huge in fact that it seemed like half of Brisbane went along to join in the foodie festivities!
There will be another one again soon that promises to be bigger and better than the first – but for the meantime here’s an updated food truck directory of all the new truckers who have joined Brisbane’s growing collective.
Vira Lata Food Truck
About: Vira Lata is the newest food truck on the Brisbane scene and they’re serving up modern Brazilian and Portuguese street food made from family recipes with a ethnic cred unlike any other.
Where: So far locations are secret squirrel, so follow them on Facebook to catch them when they’re in your local area.
V’s Vanilla Van
About: Coffee, natural slushies (including a special coffee slushie!), drinks, hotdogs, donuts… the list continues. It’s a mix of everything you could want or need at a market or festival, so pop on over when you see the purple Van and ask about purchasing a suspended coffee for someone less fortunate while your there.
Where: V’s Vanilla Van roams around Brisbane events – from sport, school fetes, carnivals, markets, festivals, community events and business functions to personalised catering, so keep an eye on the Facebook page to see where V will be popping up next.
The house favourite at Sushi Neko is temari sushi balls and delicious gourmet Japanese food. They sold out at food truck pheNomNomNom so that can only be a good sign for their Chicken karaage curry, Tempura SEAFOOD Bento box, the Succulent crunchy battered fried chicken pieces serves with home-made curry sauce and rice and the many more authentic cuisines they serve up.
Where: Currently Sushi Neko food van is at Eagle Farm Markets every Sunday, however stay tuned because this truck is going mobile soon!
The Chocolate Komberry Co.
About: This beautifully decorated van is aesthetically pleasing and its treats are uber delicious. There’s cronuts of all flavours – dark chocolate & hammered pistachio, peppermint aero bar, caramel with cream and chocolate with crème patisserie – and you can’t go past Queensland strawberries with dark sienna chocolate. The Chocolate Komberry Co. also tows a vintage photo booth kombi to some locations and events!
Where: Grab a chocolate inspired feast from The Chocolate Komberry Co. at Eat Street Markets every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
About: Roam’In Pizza is THE best in the business in Brisbane. They’ve been voted number 1 in Queensland and 3 in Australia for mobile pizza caterers, so you know your in good hands when you order a tasty woodfired pizza from these guys!
Where: Roam’In Pizza is at the Springfield Markets on Saturdays 8-1pm, Ipswich’s Sunset Markets on Fridays until 8pm and have been doing the B105 Pop-up shows across Brisbane on Friday mornings for the last few weeks! They’re also catering some festivals and events around the city so check the website and Facebook page for more details!
The Kai Kart
About: Serving up Kiwi-style pies, home-baked slices, fresh fruit ice-cream, NZ confectionary and drinks, The Kai Kart has everyone in the family covered. Here’s a hint, they’re quality pies are raved about all over social media!
Where: The Kai Kart is Gold Coast based and frequent the Riverside markets at Upper Coomera State College on the mornings of the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month. They’re also regulars at a number of other events on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane so check Facebook for this weeks plans.
King of the Wings
About: King of the Wings came up on our radar just as we published part two of our food truck directory, and it was for good reason. If you like American style wings or are a carnivore at heart, you’ll definitely want to track this trucker down. There’s fried chicken in 5 unique flavours – the signature “Southern Spice,” the crispy flavoursome “Portuguese Crumb,” the crowds favourite “Bee Sting,” the classic “American BBQ” with a hit of bourbon and “The Chillogy,” the Kings answer to the Buffalo wing.
Where: King of the Wings has been spotted at Hawthorne’s Love Your Local Market on the first Friday of the month and they’ve just launched their weekly gig “Wing it Wednesdays” at the Green Beacon Brewery in Teneriffe. Other locations are roaming and change weekly, so click like on the Facebook page and seek out some scrumptious wings.
