Undress Brisbane is a part of a new movement in Brisbane. It’s an event that aims to shed light on the wonders of sustainable fashion. Set on a rooftop in Fortitude Valley on October 15th, it will feature sustainable fashion from established labels, right through to student designers and a vintage-styled show.
The event will be the first of an annual happening and aims to grow a strong sustainable fashion community in Brisbane. Collaborating with businesses such as Square One Organic, Peppermint Magazine and Good Concepts, the event is set to blow your second-hand socks off.
Undress Brisbane is the project of three young women who share a concern for sustainability in the fashion industry and a flair for hosting a great event.
Edda Hamar, Undress Brisbane’s event manager, said that the event is one they have been hoping to pull together for a long time.
“We’ve had experience with organising fashion events before, but this is the one we’ve been waiting for. We’re putting everything we’ve got into it, ” said Miss Hamar.
“We have the ability to initiate change in the way consumers think about the lifecycle of their garments. We want to send a strong message to designers that there is a demand for a greater focus on sustainable practices.”
Kobi Lagana, Undress Brisbane’s fashion coordinator, says she’s got some exciting things planned for the rooftop runways.
“I don’t want to give too much away, but I can promise that the audience is going to leave the event inspired to get creative with their wardrobe,” said Miss Lagana.
“The innovative designs from some of our sustainable lables are amazing; we can’t wait to show Brisbane what they’re missing out on!”
