BIFF aka the Brisbane International Film Festival is back and we are dance-around-in-ya-undies-happy!! #toteslegit. After having a few years away from Brissie cinema screens, Brisbane Threads can officially say that we are over-the-moon-excited that BIFF IS BACK BABY!!
BIFF will be showcasing the very best International films; including the Swedish satire The Square, which took out the prestigious Palme d’Or at this year’s 70th anniversary Cannes Film Festival!
BIFF kicks off with an Opening Night Gala this coming Thursday 17th April at the Palace Barracks. The Opening Night Gala film is The Square & is followed by an after party which drinks, canapés and entertainment! Another notable screening, is the showcase event on Wednesday, August 30 at 6pm of ‘The Way Station’. This event includes a Q+A with the filmmaker plus Vietnamese finger food & glass of wine following the film. Brisbane Threads are also really interested in seeing Returnee; which explores an emotional and complex issues of the Kazakhs who have immigrated to Kazakhstan since its independence in 1991. And finally we are jump-up-and-down happy about seeing the highly anticipated Australian comedy That’s Not Me. #SQUEAL
The festival runs for 18 days and is over three weekends; so there are plenty of opportunities to get along to see some of diverse and exciting films. With over 60 films and 100 sessions at BIFF this year; there literally is something for everyone!
Brisbane what are you waiting for?
Grab your film buff buddies or head off to see a screening on your own (it’s totally cool to see movies by yourself). Let’s support the return of BIFF in all its glory.
BIFF IS BACK BABY!!
