Ladies Lunching At Sake Brisbane

posted by Wendy Serrano May 7, 2016 0 comments

In an era where female domination runs the world (thanks Queen B), sisters are really doing it for themselves (I’m looking at you Kardashian Klan) and there’s no room for bad blood (You go T-Swizzle), it seems the proof is here in the pudding… your #girlsquad totally rules.

And who needs an excuse to round up the gang when fine dining, bubbles and river views are involved. It’s time to get your girls together, pop the Prosecco and indulge this weekend at Sake Restaurant & Bar Eagle Street Pier for the Ultimate Ladies Lunch.

Bavarian Bier’s New Menu Is The Schnit-zel

Consider yourself one to think-outside-the-box? Outright spontaneous? Or are you a ‘stick-to-what-you-know’ and go with the flow kinda guy/gal? Either way, Bavarian Bier Cafe are turning things up a notch this winter to cater for everyone!

As an iconic Brisbane fave, you know you’re in for a good time at the legendary beer house that specialises in pleasing big Bavarian appetites with hearty classics such as the Über Schnitzel, Klaus’ Gulaschsuppe (Spicy Beef Goulash Soup) and finger licking good Pretzels.

But for those in the mood for something a little lighter (but just as delicious) say a mighty PRÖST to their ‘new modern favourites’ menu. Lighter & fresh options inspired by Bavarian flavours, created with a modern twist.

So if you’re not willing to throw your heart into a big, meaty feast, give Grandma’s Famous Meatballs a go. The light & fluffy steamed prawn dumplings go down a treat too, especially if they’re accompanied with Popcorn Shrimp “DAMPFNUDEL” Buns (I know, I know, sounds like a mouthful… but your mouth will be full of them as soon as they land on your table… trust me!). The pan roasted salmon with lentils and beet pickled red onions was also a crowd favourite, and that’s a big call from a table of Brisbane foodies.

Now now, even if you dub yourself a ‘light-eater,’ there is ALWAYS room for dessert. Come on, we all know we secretly have a dessert stomach. Top off your degustation with an old favourite like Haus-made Apple Strudel or satisfy your sweet-tooth with Warm Doughnuts w/Cinnamon Sugar incl. Spiced Chocolate Dip & Strawberry Coulis. Mix them together and… (insert prayer emoji here).

So traditional or modern… it’s your call. But for the love of new, traditions have to start somewhere right?

Hola! IndiMex Turns One

It’s the great debate I face far too often. You know, when people ask you, ‘what should we have for dinner?’ Ask me personally, and two things automatically come to mind: A warm, hearty and spicy Indian curry or a big, filled-to-the-brim, cheesy with extra guac, Mexican burrito. I somehow always end up at a crossroad. And then that little girl form the Old-El-Paso Taco ad pops into my head. You know the one where they’re talking about soft or hard shell tacos & she yells out, “Y Por Que No Los Dos?” AKA, “Why Not Both?” (Don’t tell me you don’t know it?!).

So why not spice up your life with a little bit of Indi-Mex goodness at IndiMex: Funky Indian cuisine with a Mexican Twist. Talk about a fiery mix! Two of the world’s boldest culinary palates united, and last week, IndiMex celebrated its first birthday in a nacho ordinary.

The Mariachi band was in full swing, the margaritas were flowing and the colourful table settings transported us to the bright streets of Mexico, with a kick of Indian spice of course.

First up, IndiMex Spring Rolls, Dips and Chips, Calamari with sweet chilli sauce. Okay,YUM!

In between the Margaritas, we munched on Chicken Tikka, Cocktail Sandwiches (with extra chutney cheese & veggies) and super saucy Albondigas En Salsa (Mexican Meatballs).

Throw in Onion Pakodas (otherwise known as deep-fried deliciousness) with butter chicken, prawn and mushroom filling and bite-size IndiMex Pizza on naan bread, and I was officially full. Top it off with a classic cupcake, another Corona and I was one happy señorita!

The party didn’t stop there though! Throughout the month of May, IndiMex want you to help them celebrate with hot special offers (we’re all for month-long fiestas!)

So grab your amigos and salsa your way down for some irresistible birthday treats:

  1. Free slice of birthday cake with any dine-in main meal ordered over $18.95 (Lunch or dinner only)
  2. Two free slices of birthday cake with any takeaway or home delivery of over $50 (dinner only)
  3. Buy 1 cake, get 1 free. Dine on any day or evening in May, buy one cake, receive another one to equal or lesser value for free. (T&Cs do apply. Lunch or dinner, dine in only).

PLUS $1 BIRTHDAY DEALS!

Weeknight Dine-In:

$1 Kids meal Mon-Thurs per accompanying paying adult

Takeaway

I’m giving IndiMex’s menu a ‘high-cinco’ with all it’s zing and zest…It was definitely an India-scribable Mex-travaganza. Arriba!
