RAWards : Indie Art Awards ‘Visionary’

The dark room lit with neon lights created the perfect atmosphere for exploring. An intoxicating mix of talent on display. Creativity and soul seeping from every corner. The Met in Fortitude Valley played host to Raw presents Visionary and it definitely did not disappoint.

RAW: natural born artists is an international arts organisation. They personally select independent creative in visual art, film, fashion, music, hair & makeup artistry, photography, models and performing art.

With so many talented artists displaying their works it was a visionary feast for the eyes. Floating from one exhibition to the next was heaven. The chatter singing through the air as people debated over their favourites. There were I have to admit a few artists that demanded more of my attention and ones I will definitely be keeping track of in the future.

 Larissa Lea Art – Artist

I found myself standing in front of one particular painting for nearly 5 minutes – I may have looked crazy. I was completely transfixed by the colours and the way they merged into one another. I do not pretend to understand art but something in this particular piece reached out to me.

Lauren Shelley – Photographer

Her photographs have the power to transport you into the moment the picture was taken. They manage to capture a beautiful sense of tranquillity and peace. I left determined to get back into surfing just to experience for a minute the feelings her pictures evoked.

Juxtafied- Artist

These pictures being airbrushed seem to capture a different side of the icons she painted – she made them seem softer and more relatable almost. I was most drawn to the black and white images – which coincidently where the artists favourite too.

Cocktail in hand overlooking the venue from the balcony was the perfect way to end the night. I was not aware of all the hidden talent in Brisbane and thoroughly enjoyed experiencing it thanks to RAW.

Get your Christmas glow on

Avocado face mask

Mix ½ avocado, ½ cup of plain yogurt and ¼ cup of honey until completely blended. Apply this all over the face and leave for ten Minutes. When you rinse your skin will have a beautiful dewy look.

Whiten those teeth for Santa

Baking soda saviour – No one likes to look back at Christmas photos and cringe at their yellow teeth. This one really works so start straight away.

Brush your teeth as normal and when you’re finished – dip your toothbrush into some baking soda and scrub your teeth a second time. Not the most amazing taste in the world but it works a treat.

Shrink that dreaded Christmas Pimple

Peppermint popper – We all drink and indulge way too much at Christmas and one of the side effects can be a not-so lovely visitor right in the centre of your nose. Use this handy trip to shrink him.

Mix a small handful of Peppermint in a food processor with 1 tsp lemon juice. Cover the blemish for 15 minutes, then rinse. Repeat twice a day until the spot is gone. Magic !!

Yellow nails be gone!

Ginger ale –not just for whiskey. We all go overboard on the nail varnish during the year and as a result can be left with scary yellow nails. Fill a glass full of Ginger ale and dip your naked nails in. In no time that yellow tinge will be a thing of the past.

Give yourself a DIY facelift

Tanaka face massage- Ten minute game changer

We exercise our bodies but forget that our face needs exercising too. If you want to tighten and lift your whole face this year add this Tanaka facial massage to your daily routine- the results will amaze you.
