5 Gigs You Don’t Want To Miss This Year

posted by Chloe Clark April 30, 2015 0 comments

After being a lucky guest of Rdio at Sam Smith’s serenading concert on Saturday night at the Brisbane Riverstage, I was keen to see what other gigs Brisbane has in store for 2015!

Rdio has a catalog of 32 million songs that are accessible anywhere in the world instantly with algorithmic personalization – read: when you want to listen to music but don’t know what, Rdio has your back.

Listening to stations is free and if you want to listen to your favorite albums and songs it will only set you back $11.99 a month. I have created a playlist for 5 Gigs You Don’t Want To Miss This Year to get you in the mood for the best Brisbane concerts of 2015. Here they are:

Alt-J – Friday 8th May – Brisbane Riverstage – Tickets

After just wrapping up Coachella, UK lads Atl J are coming back to Australia! Us Brisbane folk are lucky to be the first of 5 shows across the country and there are still a few tickets left!

Maroon 5 – Monday 28th September – Brisbane Entertainment Centre – Tickets

Grammy Award winning rock band Maroon 5 have made a comeback on our radio’s lately and have added a Brisbane show to their Australia tour. Grab your girls for a night of upbeat tunes and a little Adam Levine perv.

Hozier – Friday 6th November – Brisbane Riverstage – Tickets

If you don’t recognize the name you’ll definitely recognize the song – Take Me To Church is Hozier’s Grammy-nominated hit that shot him to fame. After just finishing his gig at Bluesfest he has announced his Australia Headline Show.

Ed Sheeran – Saturday 28th November – Suncorp Stadium – Tickets

We can’t get enough of Ed Sheeran! After just wrapping up his sold-out arena show, he’s coming back to play stadiums, and lucky for Brisbane we are first up!

Taylor Swift – Saturday 5th Dec – Suncorp Stadium – Tickets

And the best is saved until last (personal opinion). T-swizzle is coming back to Aus with special guest Vance Joy – what a bonus! I know what I want for an early Christmas present!

Hotel Review : NEXT Hotel Brisbane

posted by Chloe Clark February 15, 2015 0 comments

When invited to spend a night at NEXT Hotel Brisbane and dine at Lennons Restaurant & Bar I jumped at the chance to sus out this new Brisbane hot spot. What I didn’t expect was the NEXT level service and style that the swish new Hotel has created.

Next Hotel Brisbane

With the motto “Designed to make your time count”, NEXT Hotel does just that and more with their re-engineered space, technology and service designed for the time-crunched modern business traveller, but also equally impressive for tourists or those on a mini-break in their own city.

Let me break down just some of the stand out things about NEXT Hotel.

“Enjoy our amenities before check-in and even after check-out” are not words you hear from many Hotels. Designed to work for you, and for you to work, the spaces on offer at NEXT Hotel for guests to enjoy include the Club Lounge, The Pantry, Gym & Pool, Shower pods, and my personal favourite, Sleep Pods. All available for you to use if you are waiting to check in or have some time to kill before your flight after check out, accompanied by complimentary wi-fi, naturally.

And while we’re talking about spaces, it doesn’t get fresher than Lennons Restaurant & Bar where you can watch the chefs prepare your order on the spot whether it’s a breakfast meeting, power lunch or social dinner.

Next hotel Brisbane

What if I told you, you could download a NEXT Hotel app to gain absolute power over your stay? Well that is exactly what you can do, and by power I mean you can control the gadgets in your room including lights, music, and air conditioning. Use it to book room service, check in, check out and wait for it… use it as your room key! Yep, just open the app, hold it up to your door, and you’re in! If you don’t have a smart phone, you can do all of the above on the Samsung Galaxy S4 waiting in your room that is yours for the stay. You can take it out with you for the day, and use it to have room service waiting for you or have the room chilled to your desired temperature.

Wi-fi and expensive mini bar items; two things that often get you with extra costs when booking a hotel room. Not a problem when staying at NEXT Hotel as wi-fi is complimentary and so are 4 mini bar items, daily!

So you might have caught on by now that everything at NEXT Hotels revolves around you and your schedule, making it the perfect place to stay for a business trip, or simply for a staycation in your own city!

How To Get A Flawless Fake Tan

posted by Chloe Clark December 17, 2014 0 comments

loving tan

When it comes to self tanning – especially if you are tanning for a special occasion- you want to make sure you nail it. Fake tan often gets a pretty bad rap, although this is usually because it is not being applied and maintained correctly.

Last week Beginning Boutique hosted ‘How To Get The Perfect Tan’, an event for Brisbane customers to get together and learn how to achieve the perfect summer glow! Loving Tan shared tips and tricks on how to be beautifully bronzed this summer, from preparing your skin to applying the product and prolonging your tan.

So here you have it, five steps to achieving the perfect at-home summer tan:

1. Exfoliate your entire body in the shower and if you are going to shave or wax make sure you do it 24 hours prior to tanning! Right before you apply your tan, moisturize your hands, wrists, elbows, knees, ankles, feet and any dry skin that the tan will cling to.

2. Choose the right tan for your skin type! Loving Tan has a range of mousses that are easy to apply and dry super fast. If you are a rookie then Medium is the way to go so you can get an idea of how your skin takes to the tan. It is also more forgiving if you accidentally miss a patch or pack a little too much on your hands. Dark is great if you have some experience in self tanning and Ultra Dark is the holy grain product for tan-o-rexics! Medium and Dark both come in 2 hour Express Mousses if you need to look great, quickly!

3. Apply a generous amount and work in small sections. First work in circular motions and then pat dry for a flawless finish. Starting from your legs and working your way up is a good idea so you can do your hands last. For perfect hands and feet, only use excess product on the mitt to lightly blend the product, making sure to not miss in between your fingers. The tan has an instant bronzer so you can see where the product has been applied. You don’t need to stress if the bronzer looks streaky, as this will wash off when you shower and you will be left with a flawless tan.

4. To prolong the life of your tan moisturise daily with an unscented moisturizer. Avoid shaving until you are ready to remove or reapply the tan.

5. Use an exfoliating glove to remove tan and make sure there are no patches of old tan left on the skin before reapplying!

Follow all of these steps and you will be sure to have a perfect summer glow!

Beginning Boutique stocks all Loving Tan products and offers free express shipping Australia wide and free same day shipping in Brisbane!

Burberry Opens in Brisbane!

High-end British fashion brand Burberry is set to open its doors in Queens Plaza tonight, making it the first store in Queensland and the sixth in Australia.

Fronting Edward St, Burberry will neighbor Herringbone and Max Mara, and will join the list of luxury retail brands to set up shop in Brisbane including Chanel and Prada.

Burberry is known for their trademark tartan print and trench coat, and have a list of celebrities ambassadors including Emma Watson, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Suki Waterhouse representing their iconic collection.

Burberry’s most recent Fall 2014 collection saw a change from the structured trench coat to floaty silhouettes and watercolour prints, perfect for a Brisbane summer.

Our expectations for the opening are high after Burberry’s Shanghai store opening in April saw supermodel Cara Delevinge suspended in midair, pulled by an umbrella.

Don’t fret – if you can’t afford a signature camel trench coat, their latest scent My Burberry might be the next best thing.
