Antiquing on a weekday afternoon…

Now I know what your thinking, antiquing is reserved for upper class snobs, slightly strange British people wearing tweed and fancy interior designers; but these days antiques and vintage are cool again and accessible and enjoyable for all.

The Woollangabba Antique Centre is an Aladdin’s cave of vintage goodness, it’s a veritable treasure trove of antique and vintage products and attire, situated in a absolutely massive, amazing industrial building, that’s newly renovated (so it doesn’t have that musty, closed up cupboard smell and interesting ‘characters’ lurking in dark corners down the back). Most Saturdays they have amazing live music, usually The Butter Brothers Jazz Trio and for the well deserved refreshments that you’ll most likely need after all that dancing, there is also a well stocked 50’s style cafe catering to your every culinary need.

There is something to suit everyone’s taste and interests; including one of the very best and varied vintage clothing collections I have seen under one roof. It’s all set out beautifully and everything has very reasonable price tags (I always get the feeling in some antique stores that they look you up and down and then decide the price!). It’s open 7 days so whenever you have a spare day I definitely recommend travelling down to Woollangabba and enjoy a few hours trawling through the treasures of yesteryear.

Happy antiquing!
