I have never stayed in a luxury hotel before, and surely if anything is worth a bucket list, then that ought-a make it too. So where better to experience a little luxury than in our own backyard, Brisbane.
Last Friday, I packed up my Sunday best and trotted down to the Emporium Hotel, keen to both fit-in and enjoy my night away!
The first thing that stood out was the valet parking, how nice to turn up on their door step and have a nice gentleman park your car? I could get used to this!
While checking in the duty manager greeted us with a big smile and generous offer to look after us during our stay. The whole team is dedicated to making the stay ‘exquisite’ and I felt that from the moment I arrived.
We were then escorted all the way to our room and given the grand tour. The rooms are sensational, no pokey little hallway with a bed squeezed in, instead, a spacious room that seemed to go for days. Everything was hidden away to give the appearance of a huge master bedroom; but open a few secret doors and cupboards and you could nearly find a whole house! Complete with small kitchenette, laundry and a double-sided bathroom with a spa bath!
You can guess where I spent the next hour…. enjoying the complimentary bath salts, Lindt chocolates, a glass of champagne and finding relaxation. Of course making good use of the European robes and matching slippers afterwards! OK, I could reee-ally get used to this!
While getting ready to head down to the Emporium Cocktail Bar, two lovely ladies knocked on our door and offered to turn-down our beds for the night… Leaving Emporium-branded cold water bottles and more Lindt-teddy chocolates on our pillows.
The cocktail bar is one of the finest in Brisbane. And they have recently launched their Summer Cocktail Menu ‘with a nod to European Summertime’, so I was keen to give it a try! My favourites included the ‘24 Hour Sunset’ (Beefeater 24 Gin, Aperol, Solerno blood orange, pink grapefruit, lemon, prosecco) served in a jug to share; and the Emporium Classic ‘QLD Mule’ (TMD Wild Citrus Vodka, TMD lemon myrtle, house ginger soda, lime). The ambience in the bar is extraordinary… the design features locally sourced and custom designed pieces, as well as antiques from exotic locations throughout the world. Coupled with the amazing tapas and live music there was certainly no reason to leave.
We stayed at the bar til past midnight and enjoyed only having to wander a few steps back to our room.
When finally stopping to rest my head… a pillow menu caught my eye… surely not! There were 6 different pillow options available to ensure their guests had the perfect night sleep… I wasn’t going to pass this up! Some time spent deliberating over choice and I settled on the body pillow, if not for anything but curiosity!
When I woke in the morning, I didn’t want to leave. So to prolong the stay I ordered breakfast in bed… a quick phone call and a tap at my door and I was enjoying a freshly baked croissant, fresh fruit salad and yoghurt and the perfect cup of coffee.
I couldn’t leave without checking out the rooftop pool, so grabbed my laptop and headed up. The rooftop terrace featuring outdoor heated salt water lap pool, sauna and sun baking lounges – perfect for a relaxing afternoon or sunny morning reading the newspaper.
One night at Emporium Hotel was simply not enough!
There was so much on offer at the hotel it seemed a shame to leave and not try everything out… perhaps a great excuse to come back soon?
