Best American Food In Brisbane | Brisbane Threads

We are always trying to update our mind and stomach, and this post is no exception. We know you loved our post on the best American food in Brisbane from a couple of years ago, so we pulled it from the archives, gave it a fresh update and added a bunch of new restaurants to help you introduce your sheltered Australian palette to the holy grail of American foods. American food is addictive, growin’ and stickin’ around Brisbane and sometimes it can even stick to your hips for- days, weeks and months after that juicy pulled pork slider.

It’s one thing to say that hamburgers are American and that’s about as far as it goes….if you have been to the land of the free and dreamers you can back me up in saying there is oh so much more. It’s so much more than biting into pizza that’s bigger than your head, licking southern BBQ sauce or any sauce for that matter from your hands/ upper arm, although that certainly helps the American label stick.

So the question remains… How does one do American the right way in Brisbane? Well, its simple, don’t eat for a at least 5 hours before you go (maximum food engulfing capacity), wear some baggy clothes, be prepared to try some interesting but always tasty foods and get to one of our top picks below. Oh and maybe take some kind of bib or wash cloth as us Aussies aren’t used to dealing with allll that sauce!

Here are the best American Eats in Brisbane (the updated edition!).

Getta Burger – Carina/ West End/ Bridgeman Downs/Clayfield – has it all, from thick milkshakes with too much cream to handle, cheese, mayo and ketchup on just about everything, BBQ and burgers are their speciality – it’s a winner

California Native – Coorparoo – West Coast inspired cuisine

Redhook – CBD – putting abitta Brissy’s laneway culture into the merican culture, the tucked away bar serves NYC street food and dranks for a big night or soul searching food nights

Ribs and Burgers – James Street – the name says it all

The Flying Cock – Valley – before the party, there is always food – the chicken schnitzel comes in all sorts of flavours, hit them up on a Wednesday night and get 2 for $20

Southside Diner – Southbank – retro American diner with booths and all

The Smoke BBQ – New Farm – Owned by a born and bread American guy, offering in-house smoked American BBQ these guys are pro’s

Shady Palms – Stones Corner – the pulled port sliders are everything

Pit Boss American – the all-American BBQ

Tippler’s Tap – Teneriffe – craft beer, wings and sliders what more is there really…

5 Boroughs – Stones Corner/ Ascot – NYC Street Food, housing insane burgers and sliders with plenty of needed sauce

Carolina Kitchen – Coorparoo/ Morningside – Southern inspired soul food

Yard Bird Ale House – Fortitude Valley/ Paddington – All- American

Ribbetts – Dutton Park – Ribs, Ribs and more Ribs

New York Dogs – Food Cart, Various Locations

Greaser – Fortitude Valley – don’t get scared by the name… they have music, food and beer, and a side of grease… they play the classics like Johnny Cash and have southern fried chicken wings like no-other, in Brisbane that is

Lefty’s Old Time Music Hall – Caxton Street – their menu may be smaller than others, but the portions are there, along with American vibes

Ribs and Rumps – Fortitude Valley/ Milton – Aussie take on Modern American food

Nice list. The only problem with all (any) of the USA food places in Brisbane is that NONE of them serve Rolling Rock beer.

Completely outrageous that Sloppies in Brisbane is not on this list! It is by far one of if not the best American restaurant in not just Brisbane but all of Australia. Pretty biased list.

Twelve Boar in Cleveland, QLD (Brisbane’s Bayside) amazing SMOKED MEATY pork ribs, buffalo wings (ACTUAL AMERICAN BUFFALO WINGS), smoked pulled pork burgers and beef brisket burgers.. oh man their onion rings are to die for.
